Somber Vengance

Another school assignment that I’m double dipping with, so more “trailer music”.  I will admit, Weekly Beats has been an excellent motivator to not wait till the last minute (like usual) to write all my music for class.  I’m not as happy with this week’s submission as last week’s, but I’m not a huge fan of the choral samples that I’m working with.  I also felt a little like I was stepping on my own feet with some of the low strings at the end... but I also think that might be because I laid down the opening piano part first, and I liked it so much that I was just dissatisfied with everything else that I put in after ໒( •́ ∧ •̀ )७

At any rate, I’m super interested in what genre of media (tv, video game, movie, etc) would you expect this music to be a trailer for?

This was giving me some dystopian sci fi vibes ala the show Altered Carbon.  Really nice build towards the end and nice orchestration throughout.  The rhythmic strings give it a good pace with the percussion too.  Nice work!

Super cinematic! The cut at :51 to the more "epic" section feels like it'd be right at home in a sci-fi, fantasy, etc. trailer.

Thanks... and it's funny you mention Altered Carbon... I have recently been studying the music in  Altered Carbon for a separate project, wonder if some of that is bleeding in ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ

Thanks, I'm glad it's evocative in that way.

Love those pianos with big reverbs-delays for the intro.

Percussions are super effective. Very cool track that I would see easily on a cool trailer. Very cinematic.

haha weekly beats?? ooh you mean Sunday beats! yeah I'm doing it this year wink
I think you got the trailer vibe right and the contrast between the piano part and the rest is only in your head...

This is a trailer for a man who has lost everything and is out for revenge in the highlands, or something wink don't ask me why haha

Thanks, that Replika XT though... I find that I'm reaching for it for almost every track these days.

Thanks, this track has definitely grown on me... I just hated the choral samples soooooo much while writing it, that I couldn't hear anything else, but listening to it now... I don't hate it.

Sci-fi tv show for sure. I see you hated the choir so much they almost completely disappeared in the mix.

Yup... I disliked it enough to get a whole new choral set of choral libraries.
