Body Formatic

Ok, nothing fancy this week... going back to my roots with a little EBM/Industrial jam.  I didn't have a ton of time this week on account of day job things.  So I figured I would just do something fun... and I can assure you that a lot of booty shaking has gone into the making of this track.  The highlights here are one of my favorite drum kits from Battery 4 (Land of Honey), and a MassiveX patch on bass.  Also I'm testing out a new riser & hit library from Vir2 (Phoenix)... I didn't really put it through it's paces fully but I do dig what I've seen of it so far.

For folks who read from last week... no, I was not able to salvage the lost project file... but such is life.  I do still have all the kits, and synth presets saved though, so I might rebuild the pallet and makes something new at some point... but a major school project deadline looms a few weeks out, so it will likely not be until next month.

Pentatonique!

Oh hell yeah this is the stuff, love the resonant bass bouncing back and forth. Songs to lay waste a bunch of goons in a nondescript warehouse to.

Do you remember the game WinBack? Unless of course you're describing real life tongue

Cool track!

There's at least a couple radio stations in Cyberpunk 2077 that would happily play this track, that bass hits and drones are doing a ton of work alongside the pads, they sound great. I really enjoy the industrial sounds in that kit but I really want the kicks to hit harder? They're not quite ready to compete with that massive bass. Great track though, I love it when I hear something and I immediately feel "ohhh I know what this is and I love it...." and then bonus get all kinds of great unexpected surprises. heart

Very niiiice! What a coincidence, I just made a track this week that sounds kind of Japanese! I say this because the little flute in yours here gives me strong feudal Japan-vibes, hahahaha... Awesome job overall, this is great! And it makes me profoundly happy to hear that making it involved large amounts of booty shaking, hahahaha...

love hearing you in this mode! i want to hear this blasting through huge speakers in the forest while i shake my booty with a bunch of woodland critters

A delicious bass and drone is going on there!

Ooof love when the bass gets into those lil wocka_wocka rhythms and then gets sucked up and spat out by the riser.  A bit of Blade soundtrack feels like the hero just walked into the bad guy club but nobody stopped the music for the gun show.  Excellent work!

Sorry to hear about your lost work, that's always a bummer. The current track's got excellent sound design on that distorted bass. It growls in a really nicely controlled fashion. A beast tamed. And I super appreciate the stereo imaging on it. I love that stuff!

Hehe, yeah Ebm pentatonic is my go too scale for "things I can play while actively dancing during recording" ꉂ (´∀`)ʱªʱªʱª

Lol, yeeeeess get'um.  And that resonate bouncy sound is actually an Ashlight granular patch, with very little tweaking actually, and got the drums going, sequenced as simple line and played the macros... again... while dancing.

Thanks so much, and yeah this is one I worked on like riiiiiiight up to the deadline (busy week) so there was a bunch of stuff I meant to do but never got to... getting some side chain compression on the bass to get the kick coming through more was one of them.  I always wanted to put is some old move samples, but ended up doing the little melodic jam because it was faster than finding and chopping samples (for me anyway).  So yeah, totally fair... I wanted more kick too, and I might circle back to it at some point, but we'll see (I'm terrible about revisiting old tracks).

Lol, thank you, and yeah... several musical compromises where made to allow for to plethora of booty shaking... this one really was from the beginning like "screw it... I'm doing something abjectly fun today... I don't care how it turns out I just wanna twist some knobs and dance!"

Thanks, I can't take too much credit for the sound design on these ones, mostly just slightly tweaked presets from Massive X and Ashlight, but I do think they fit together nicely.

Thanks so much, I actually had a lot of fun with the risers in this track, the new library is pretty dope for making pretty flexible risers and hits... and doing so without having like 10 instances of a VST going to them all, or like having to fuss with lining up audio clips.  And I love the visual of Blade dusting a bunch of vampires in a club to this track.

Yeah, c'est la vie.  And thanks, I had fun with that bass sound.  Again, mostly just a Massive X preset, with minor tweaks, but like most of the rest of the track, I sequenced it, then recorded myself playing the filters... while dancing like a maniac.  ٩( ᗒᗨᗕ )۶
