READY

Wow, hard to believe that a year has flown by. I finally got my studio "setup". This year my goal is to really dial everything in. I bought my first guitar in September so this year will also feature a bunch of guitar. It is an extra level of difficulty for me, trying to both record and find my fingers on the right strings, but we are going for it so I appreciate the feedback as I try and get everything working musically.

I also couldn't resist adding the TR1000 and that is doing drum duty on this track (I have a thing for drum machines and samplers). I have a single bass patch from the modular and the rest is guitar running through a few pedals, JHS Pulp and Peel and JHS Color Box for my clean tone, and Eventide H90 running wet/dry through a pair of amp sims. Its going to be a journey with guitar this year, I struggled getting everything recorded with various latency.

I do hope by the end of the year I can pull off a completely live track recorded in a single take (we all can dream)

As always I am so grateful for everyone that gives a listen, can't wait to catch up on all your tunes this year.

Are you READY!

Oh man, I love those guitar tones against the drum machine - organic and precision. That vocal sample weaving in the background is a great touch. Awesome soundscape!

Hey, good to see you back here!  The guitar sounds great on this.  Looking forward to hearing what you do with it this year.  The background textures are tasty on this as well.

Excellent energy from the drums and loving how the TR1000 sounds.  The guitar and vocals are nice contrast to the pace of the drums.  Good to see you back!

Great layering, the track evokes a very immersive atmosphere, like a busy but not too busy market on an afternoon, with lots of greenery to give shade. Maybe in Spain or the Middle East?

Noble goal, I have a similar aspiration with my DAWless setup... the dream is to record a performance using only a Mackie Onyx 8, so mixed and recorded with only hardware, and then mastered with my normal chain... it's fun to dream.

Dude this track is dope though, I agree with the above, the layering is awesome, and that kick.  I'm interested to hear how your finding the TR-1000... I've heard the only thing not to like is the price tag... I'm curious how true that is in practice.

So chill, really really wonderful production! Welcome back!

Absolutely love this! Put this on for a night drive 10 mins after the drop! smile

guitar and fluid dnb is a great match, can't wait to hear more!

Oh this is a sick groove! Great work!

This already sounds really nice. Can't wait to see what you'll come up with during the year

Yeah sounds great!!! What a fun goal, and so sensible if you ever want to perform this material. Good luck, I bet you'll get there faster than you think smile

Heat as always, hopefully I can keep up to your sauce this year. πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Nice vibes, cool tones on the guitar and the entire atmosphere of this track is great. Good stuff!

Solid, love how all the tones work so well together, looking forward to seeing where you go with guitar in future tracks

Ooo. I really like the guitar work. its so soft and chill. love the layers. did you use a looper pedal?

love the textures in the background, tight track that could easily vibe to on the stereo. Hope you have a great 2026

Thank you, I really do love all the textures that a guitar provides I only wish I had discovered this many moons ago, either way it will be fun digging in throughout the year

The TR1000 is a fantastic machine, while it is expensive, it really is great piece of kit that has alot to be explored, and sounds fantastic. I highly recommend.

I am still working on a rig, what sequencers, whose best as master, should I just mix down to some stems on the octatrack with just TR1000 and the wet/dry rig as inputs for additional sampling, or include the modular? I am unsure. I am still working on a looper situation as well. Anyways I do hope to have it worked out to a degree that I am moving closer to performing my tracks, that's the dream.

Thank you, I can hear the backdrop of a lively market, those textures would be a great ear candy added to the track that gives me some ideas.

Thanks again, slowly moving closer to live performance it’s my whale, I am very comfortable benching the scenes but stepping closer to the live performance where everything is on the edge is a goal for sure. My hats off to all those that do this on the regular.

Let’s go get busy with your new toys!

I enjoy the guitar. Vocal puts a bow on it at the end. Nice one.

Welcome back, pretty snazzy beat.

digging the new guitar, all right!! nice to see (hear) you back again, mmzunguko!  heart

Guitar is so nice, I could float in those layers for days. Great production, this flows and flows some more. Love your goal of doing a track live, I'm with ya on that!

Welcome back! Sounds great, and congrats on starting your guitar journey!

Where are you recording to, and where are you running into latency issues? Latency is also a long journey lol but sometimes there's simple problems and solutions. And "features" a daw wants you to use that should really be shoved in the trash lol

Gonna be an exciting year!

Thank you all so much, I don't know why I never picked up guitar, but honestly playing instruments is very addicting, I hope to bring out some of my percussion that has been packed away for years.

I really enjoyed that tune! I something dream of learning to play guitar but I feel it would stretch my skills even thinner then they already are. Looking forward to next week!

Now that sounds like an AWESOME goal for 2026, damn!!! I'm excited to hear the tracks you make along your quest there!
And this was already a damn solid start! I really enjoyed the guitar here. Subdued, chill, and super well paired with the crazier drums.
May 2026 be the year of the guitar, then!! smile

I'm here for tracks full of guitar textures this year! Sounds great.

I'm so happy I got the Analog Rytm MK2, otherwise I'd be very tempted by the TR-1000. As it stands, the Elektron flagship ticks enough boxes to keep GAS at bay.

Nitpick: the track's good as is, but the drums are a bit loud for the rest of the music and so they distract from the intricate soundscape. I suspect if you turned them down a bit and glued them with the rest of the mix by dirtying them up a little, that would make the track sound feel more cohesive.

ready!
happy new year mzunguko!!!
as usual - your track transports me to just lovely vibes
i'm excited to read about your new adventures with guitar & dialing in on your process
wishing you all the best on the journey!
here we go again!

I love the vibe, I know you want to get better at the guitar, but the little wobbliness sounds deliberate and tells a bit of a story.

For whatever reason I see Japanese scenery, some old anime with main character trying to hold visage of a tough guy while not fully holding himself together.

That was a fun listen, waiting for new ones big_smile

welcome back!  always READY for some guitar!  congrats heart

I loved your tunes last year, very interested to see what you come up with this year with the guitar in tow. Cool track!

I am glad I don't have room for drums as I would love to have a kit mic'd up and get on that struggle bus as well. Thanks for listening.

We are going for it, I do hope I get a workflow and confidence to pull this off without too much time spent on the struggle bus.

I here you on the drums, I was rushed at the end, had to delete my song with 10 minutes to go and couldn't upload cause it was way too big, so I started over with a really rough mix and just got it in.

Here we go, the year went by so fast, new equipment, new goals, and the world is just as crazy, but here we are so glad you made it back for another go.

Let's go, shooting for a live recording, not sure I can swing the camera, love the fact that you fit so much in a week. Here we go again!

Thanks, these first few weeks, I am really trying to get a recording process down and figure out the mixing part. Getting a "track" a week is really gonna stretch all these new muscles.

Thanks so much, for taking a listen I always come away inspired by your tracks, glad to see you here again.

enjoyed this!

damn that TR1K sounds good, wish I could justify spending that much a bit easier wink
Maybe if I sell one of my machinedrums and the TR-8S πŸ€”
