FUEL

By mzunguko on September 8, 2024 8:40 pm

Our protagonist emerges from cryo sleep into a very large debris field with several sensors malfunctioning and pieces of his ship no longer attached floating out into space. Heart pounding our protagonist wrestles for control of the ship as panic sets in as the fuel gauge is malfunctioning. Without knowing where he is or how much fuel is left our story begins.

This image sets the backdrop to this weeks track. I removed the Lubadh tape delay and added Qu-bit Nautilus delay and Mutable Instruments Beads to the skiff. Had a real blast twisting knobs and crafting a soundscape heavily leaning on the virus and the modular skiff. I hope you enjoy.

woah - what a cool world you have made here!
really intriguing track and mix, mzunguko
enjoyed the lead-in story too  smile

Cool story to this and the music really does capture that imagery.  Even if I hadn't read it I would have gotten space vibes for sure.  And it's clear some sort of intense situation is going on.

I like the story here, this a great soundtrack. Love all the burbles and gurgles, awesome stereo width

Thank you, mixing on the digitakt is interesting but I haven’t been back in my studio and do like getting to know the device better. Another installment of our story this week.

Thank you. And stay tuned as our story continues this week.

Thanks for listening, lots of happy accidents from my granular processing skiff and the noise engineering stereo filter really adds to the width. The digitakt isn’t the best sampler for slicing but I do love the sequencer and the end of chain compressor does the job.

Love the dark quality to this.  Those lil electrified bits really add to the sensors malfunctioning feels.  The kick is nice and punchy and really adds to that dark tone.  Those pads oof really give ya the space drifties yikes Nice work!

Thank you, I do hope you are feeling better. My flesh suit is getting tired as well and it seems every time it goes in the shop some new problem gets introduced. I have been in somewhat of a melancholy mood as of late, must be a sign of the times.

Awesome setting for this track... I could totally see this as part of the score for Pandorum... which has a similar opening to what you described.  The sound design is awesome, throughout, but I especially love all the glitchy "modem" type sounds.  Really keeps the track feeling interesting and fresh.  Nothing like modular ear candy.

Thanks for listening, I have been switching modules in and out of my bigger system, its a double edge sword of forcing more creative patching and always wishing I had more hp at my disposal.
