Better Know Her Better (Holland Collab)

By myfirstpunksong on August 25, 2024 7:19 pm

This one is an old unfinished idea from my buddy Andy Holland, he had on his computer. I asked him for a few that I could use as exercises/experiments on weekly beats last time I was over and this is one.

Quick 15 min jam on Sunday night. Then I added a total of three guitars - two hard panned 'maelstrom' which are pretty much the same part, and a spacey one in the background.

Was pretty fun actually and I do feel like I added quite a lot with just some really simple guitars. Feel it got a bit of a Jesus and The Mary Chain vibe added to it and i love that kinda reverb soaked atmosphere that has this almost shoegazey effect. Cool experiment and shows me just how much can be added to a sound with just a couple simple guitars.

Kinda feels like cheating! But it was good to jam, if only breifly, did feel I've learnt something, and good to unleash some of Holland's old tunes.

Oh man, this is GREAT! Buzzy, droney, indie drenched goodness.

Guitars sound fantastic, big and bold. The panned guitars set the stage really well, and that third part adds the perfect amount of variation. Love the funky drum part. Vocals are my favorite part, perfect contrast to the grit of the guitars, with that subtle harmony. Definitely got. “Yes!!” out of me when you went to the chorus.

The worst part about that track is that it’s over way too soon! Great job.

oh hell yeah, this is so tasty! loved the fuzzed out guitars and how the vocals cut through. really nice  heart

ps: that harmony is ON POINT

This is such a fantastic tease but it's way too short! It's the Gravenhurst school of shoegaze. Guitars sound awesome, the vocals are super tight, the lyrics are very intriguing.

I love this thing!

Thanks, yeah I liked the contrast on this one, its my nature to want to put fuzz over things smile

Thanks for your comment! I hadn't heard of Gravehurst before so this was cool reference for me to go and check out! smile

Love the sound of your guitars!  The vocal harmonies in this sound great especially in the mix with the guitars and drums underneath.  The quick pitchy outro makes it feel like it's going to be followed by a giant epic track. (and from the looks of it, you did!)
