I've got a second hand M8 on monday and have started to learn it since. It's a really really neat device for sure. My plans are to learn how to use FM synth properly instead of relying on presets as I've been doing until now; on this little track the bass is a crappy patch I did, drums are M8 samples, and the lead and other bells are M8 presets.

M8 ftw!!! Stoked to hear you've got one in your hands! The FM synth can be such a beast. Excited for your experimentation. Nice first track!

Thank you!!! It's a lot to learn but now is the time 😁. I also like the macrosynth, it's very convenient :-)

Niiiiiiiiceeee!!! Another M8-er!!! ONE OF US, ONE OF US!!! =P
Awesome first track, I dig it!!! The wobblier background synth plays really well with the higher-pitched bell synth.
This has a bit of a spooky feel to it. Maybe this is what plays in a video game for kids during a scene where the main character enters a haunted house or something =P
And I agree with that_ranjit - the FM Synth is awesome. I still find it a bit overwhelming and have only scratched the surface with it. I mostly keep to WAVSYNTH, MACROSYN and SAMPLER.
Hope you enjoy the M8 ride!!!

Seems you got a good handle on it already
Seems to be a bit of clipping in points tho, might want to check that out

Ahah thank you! I love that it's so low friction, can do a bit of music for 10 minutes on the couch if that's all I have. Clearly there's also years of learning ahead (especially with tables and groves…). I've been using the sampler for drums mostly; macrosynth for some instruments like chords; and the FM synth for fun, heh.

Good point, indeed. Mixing is something I'm not paying enough attention to, really. (And it might also be the per instrument clipping!). Thanks for the heads up smile
