resurrection

i didn't know what to call this one, and i had a bunch of mixed ideas about what it's really about.

i saw this absolute bananas movie the same day I recorded it. and the movie poster is a wax figure in an all red room, and so i thought, hey, that's me. the last dreamer. suffering delirium. and so i named this song after that movie even if, imo, it falls well short of the artistic heights of that movie.

This is fun and energetic. The sounds are different, but the composition and structure remind me of old video games. Like an a side-scrolling platformer. Jumping and shooting enemies against a dystopian city background at night, obviously. Nicely done!

Hell yeah, that synth solo about 2:20 in soars.
Boss fight music on motorbikes.

Also I know exactly that movie and am so eager to see it!

Great song man. I love Alonemusic's "Boss fight on motorbikes" comment.
This is killer. You also make me want to start actually using my Launchpad for the purpose I bought it for! LOL...

Very lively, I'd say it fits.

Nice, I imagine myself in some futuristic car race in a neon-colored city B)

I really like the tempo changes? or just an added time at some points?

nah, definitively some tempo changes. smile Fuck yeah. Tasty synths as well, really like the soloing at the end.

This sends a rather unique message given the juxtaposition of the title and the actual music. The title suggests some dramatic cinematic pad-heavy riser, or at least an optimistic piece about overcoming a huge obstacle. The hugest.

But no, this track communicates urgency. This track communicates action. Severity. Gravity. Somehow, despite no lyrics, this track is rebellious. It's a call to action. It's a lit fuse.

No notes, five stars.

You think you take it down, but pops back up with second health bar and modified attacks.

Try to see it in a theater if you can. It's absolutely an amazing film.

I need to try to push this launchpad a little more too. as a performance tool, i need a few more things I think, like a footpedal to switch stuff, and some controllers (which I have) but none of it was playing well together.

OK i'm glad you noticed! because yes there are, but, they're mistakes. it's just added time. the actual track is 4/4 locked by my own time is not as pathological as a drum machine, so i managed to mess it up in a nice, engaging way. a happy accident! this is why I like playing life/jamming, it just brings it to life in a way you don't intend. a little bit of fate slips in. which can also be annoying lol.

i mean, if there isn't some urgent need for rebellion right now, i dunno. but, i think the rebellions of the past should be scrutinized so we don't just repeat the same mistakes. so it's more of a "yeah but we gotta fix it for really real this time" rebellion.

you can all see through me today which is amazing.

Oh man, the higher-piched melodic voice at around 2:25 is so goooood!!!! Such great energy I frickin' love it!!! Awesome to see you back at it here in 2026, man!!! Looking forward to more of your M8 goodness!!!

YESSSSS Loving this performance.

This is amazing! So much great stuff going on, bright mix, 80s-ish feel with modern sensibility. The lead that comes in at 1:41 reminded me of the Duran Duran-like arp in Deadsy's "She Likes Big Words" (this is a good thing). And that ending!! I am now completely energised.

That 80s sensibility are my Yamaha RX15 samples. The "goth 808" i call it XD.

Playing this in a room right now and someone said...

"I need fingerless gloves and a Ferrari right now"
