TOKERU

By mukti on January 25, 2026 7:49 pm

This is the first track where I tried to collaborate with my brother, paperthinphil. I was slacking all week, and put most of it together this weekend after giving my brother a very tiny stem to base his guitars on. In the end I tried going for a bit of a Godflesh vibe, and added some additional vocals on top. Its a bit of a mess, but a first stab at collaborating, so I'm fairly happy given the short time we put into it. Any critique/feedback is welcome!

All the guitars are performed by paperthinphil on a Jackson Dinky JS22 and recorded on a Line 6 PodGo. All other sounds were made on the M8, and the track was built+arranged on the M8. The vocals are my own attempt at whispering and screaming, all recorded and slightly modified in reaper after rendering all the other stems on the M8.

The track name, TOKERU, is a Japanese word that means to be solved, or to loosen; but when talking about ice and snow it means to melt. All the lyrics to the track are just the word "melt."

Metal on M8???? I've seen it all this is dope

This rules. Instant favourite. Brother collabs are the best.
The image instantly prepared me for the industrial I was going to get hit with, but the chugging guitar is so so tasty.

yooo this is heavy as fuck

It's so heavy

That guitar is really sick.

Hopefully I can make more through the year, definitely need to work some more gritty FM into future tracks.

Definitely -- I couldn't do guitar+m8+mixing all by myself! We're probably gonna keep with the industrial theme for future tracks as well, but we'll see, anything could happen!

Thanks 🤘
Phil's guitars were pretty heavy to begin with, then I just added some grit over top.

Phil's been working on getting a cool tone for a while, so I'm glad it worked out in this track! 🤘

bros on WB?  that's awesome!

nice collab, ready to escape the dungeon to this one

🤘

Bring on the industrial!! Synth and guitar combination is great - clean tones against that chugging/riffing guitar. So good.

Hoping for at least one bro collab per month in 2026!

Thanks! Definitely need to work on some more gritty FM to fit complement the guitar in future tracks!

Thanks! We were definitely going for an industrial metal sound for this - something like Godflesh/3TEETH/Front Line Assembly. Hoping to continue this trend with my collab tracks!
