SKRAPI

Was really distracted this weekend and fought with two separate tracks, but gave up on both of them around 4PM on Sunday. This is what I ended up salvaging from one of the two, but its pretty short. I managed to slip in a bunch of samples and extra sounds to give it some depth, but kinda feels like a stub rather than a full song.

The name SKRAPI is an Esperanto word that means "to scratch." Since this kind of felt like a bit of a scratch/throwaway track, and because of the record scratch samples, it felt appropriate.

This week, I'm not using a fancy picture, just one of my family dog (Elmer) in a hoodie. After ~14 years, he passed away peacefully this Saturday at my parents' home.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear of your family's loss. Elmer looks like he had quite a lot of character. Wishing your family heals from this soon.

As for the song, I'll say you were indeed quite **scrappy** (see what I did there?) for having been able to cobble something up within the last few moments before submission time! Hahahah... And for what it's worth, while this does feel super raw, it's still musical and whacky samples are fun to follow as they chaotically come in and out.

The track has a unique sound & great energy - I don't think it's lacking, but I didn't hear what you had in your head! The samples & scratching work nicely, and I love the distorted drums.

I also love Elmer in his hoodie and I am sorry for your loss. What a sweetie.

Thanks! He was unique for sure, and will be missed. I'm glad he had a long life, especially for a pug mix! I think I have a half decent idea for week 41 based on some of the sampling bits in this week's track 🧐

Thanks! Ideas from this week will definitely be a bit of an inspiration for week 41!

And thanks - he hated all the clothes, but looked great in them!
