MIZERA

By mukti on October 27, 2024 8:21 pm

I spent most of this week messing around in Deflemask before giving up and trying to make a spooky, kind of Halloween/horror themed track on my M8. It shares the same vibe as TERURA but with less of a "sci-fi alien" horror theme, and more of a Poltergeist vibe. I found some samples on LANDR (Digital Nightmares Halloween SFX Pack) and chopped+mixed them with some male TTS vocals I generated. Like many tracks I released here, its pretty repetitive, but I think it works. Any feedback is appreciated!

I spent a lot of time looking through horror/fear words to use as a title for this weeks track, but most of the Esperanto translations didn't give the right horror vibe. I ultimately went with MIZERA, an Esperanto word meaning "miserable," which looks/feels closer to the vibe of the track.

The distortions you applied to the vocals are really cool, but something about the part at 0:50 actually made my skin crawl, holy crap... Hahahaha very creepy, nicely done!

Thanks! The sample I grabbed was already somewhat distorted, but I added additional reverb and ensemble, and slightly pitched that snippet up a bit. Glad I was able to achieve the creepy vibes!

Great Halloween/horror movie vibe.  Hearing "I'm not scared" doesn't seem like it should be creepy, but it is.

Thanks! I thought it sounded pretty creepy, especially when the effects made the voice sound almost possessed 😱

I'm not scared, you are
I feel it'd be more effective if you put variable delay on the vocals
