BANANO

By mukti on September 15, 2024 5:58 pm

This week I finished off a techno/acid track (I'm bad at defining genres) that I created some stems for last week. I ended up heavily modifying the original stems, and adding some effects in Reaper when I worked on the final mix. Throughout the week I've been listening to Rob de Large and Porter Robinson; but after the lighter track last week (and seeing Porter on Friday), I leaned heavily into the Rob de Large vibes for the sounds on BANANO. I ended up reusing some instruments I had used heavily in the past. The synth that kicks in around 2min is a modified version of nullsleep's POISON-LEAD from the default m8 packs. The other somewhat obvious one is the reversed siren from JELPI. For vocal samples I'm using the Ultra Hype Vocals pack from LANDR again, and some new clips from a scene in Ex Machina where Nathan explains the artistic methods of Jackson Pollock.

As always, any feedback is appreciated!

I didn't use the "bananas" sample as much as I wanted since I was running out of time; but I ended up using that for the theme and name of the track. "BANANO" is the Esperanto word for "banana."

The picture is also based on the same theme... just a close up shot of a banana that I have sitting on my kitchen counter.

Really great kick--the frequency sweep on it really cuts through. Very insistent groove, and that up/down sweep is a cool accent.

Thanks!

Weirdest banana I've had so far.
