Who says a rock band can't play funk?!

I didn't know I could funk, there's more automation lanes in this tune than money in my bank account. Clavinet, bass, guitar, leads and everything else (except FX) played by me.

Soooo damn funky. Fawnky chonky. The guitar and clavinet really stand out to me on this track.

"there's more automation lanes in this tune than money in my bank account" Lol, what a sentence

Glad to make a brother funk. The clavinet is really awesome, I got my hands on those Arturia synths and it's just a dream coming true.

This was the best compliment I've ever received here, thank you.

Damn, that's funky! I'm not sure what you bring in at 02:22, but that's my favourite part (3:20 really strong as well). And as previously stated, well done on the guitar.

what the funk are you DOING
this is too funky
i had to upgrade my computer because this broke the funk specs

i really like the drums

Solid track, love the filter sweeps.

Feels good!

I know it is all drum machines and synths, but there is really a solid groove there!

I SAW that bass! heart I like that a lot of elements leave space between each other.

First I thought this is funkadelic samples being mishmashed (they have a song called who says a funk band can't play rock, from a most funky album, in the unlikely case u don't know it - I can't recognize any samples from it but maybe I'm dumb). but on second thought it doesn't really resemble it.

I like all the funky elements, the clavi, the guitar, the funky beat, and I also feel it has a strong spooky vibe. At first the background noise automations seem a bit off-putting, idk. but awesome intro with the bass and guitar and dry panned drums!

the bass is great throughout, but I feel melody around 2min is the most catchy and it could be highlighted more earlier. Or at least some kinda melodic hook is missing earlier on. otherwise the funk sound is well represented! kudos and thx for sharing! favd! (hope I'm not overdoing the critical feedback btw!)

Are you using an intel CPU? Intel CPUs are known for not being able to handle the f u n k. Thanks, the good old LinnDrum.

Yeah, I think the live automations really gave the track a more human feel. I appreciate the commentary smile

Hi there! The track title is actually a joke with the original Funkadelic track you mentioned, I'm glad someone noticed it. There's no Funkadelic samples tho haha. Your comment on the transition (at 2min mark) makes sense, I didn't really have time to think this through so it ended up like this but I do agree that there's something lacking in this section. Thanks for your insights.

funk YEAH, head boppin over here

wow I don't know how I didn't know it was Linn Drum, I am REALLY REALLY loving and really getting into my Linn Drum love this year

This is such a fun track.  Honestly I don't think I can say it better than Phil's Toe Jam & Earl gif... it's a track the forces ones body to move... Involuntary Funk Dancing ᕕ(⌐■_■)ᕗ ♪♬

This would be fun to experience on a dance floor. Got some pretty complex microtiming going on there!

That bass is what makes this track. Excellent. The expression on the lead is also chef's kiss, esp. when it starts screaming.

If you're going the sample way I can definitely recommend sample packs from Samples From Mars, I almost exclusively use their samples.

yeah, I played the drums live with my fingers so it's all over the place at times but it still sounds good! (I think)

oops, that should have been:

If a heavy metal band can rap, I see no reason a rock band can't play funk. Very good funk at that.
