(I Just Want) Something to Celebrate - feat. eretsua + Paisleyfrog!

By ModuLoBro on April 5, 2026 6:12 pm

FIRST - HUGE THANKS to eretsua + Paisleyfrog for pitching in big YEAHs for my choruses!

So, the world being what it is right now, plus 3 weeks of wondering if my partner of 20 years has breast cancer while we waited for the biopsy and then the result [IT'S BENIGN!! YAY!], I kinda hit a wall of g** f******* d******* can we please have some good news FFS????

And we got some. Thank goodness. Wrote the lyrics while walking the dog and the rest kinda took care of itself. If I produce this fully, which I just might, obvious first thing would be proper guitar parts rather than just full-out chugging the straight chords.

But for today, for now, I enjoy it!
PS - no Deluge this week. This song called for Logic.

Lyrics
Everywhere I look, I’m seeing bad news
Every day, I feel so down and out
I’m so tired of carrying these sad blues, baby
I’m so tired of living with this doubt

I’d sell my soul for some kinda sign

I just want one thing to celebrate
Give me one good reason to feel great again, yeah
I just want something to celebrate
Fill in the painful blank, somebody

Promise me right now you won’t surrender
Don’t give up without some kinda fight
They might take our toys but just remember, honey
They can’t take our joy they got no right

They sold their souls, but I still got mine

I just want one thing to celebrate
Give me one good reason to feel great again, yeah
I just want something to celebrate
Fill in the fucking blank, somebody

This is fantastic! Great clean pop punk (way better than my effort LOL). Love your vocals, and the lyrics. The song is absolutely a celebration in and of itself - huge smile on my face, bouncing up and down. Amazing work.

SO HAPPY for you and your partner - glad to be able to contribute to the celebration in some small way heart heart heart

Thank you!!! I'm so happy it made you smile. :-) It made my wife pretty happy, too.

Taking a week off from the Deluge made me excited to get back to it, which is good.

Ugh, my poor love has been so frightened - and at first, she couldn't get a biopsy appointment until April 23. (Do NOT get me started on health care in the US... .) Huge relief to have gotten in last week. Phew.

Well isn't this delightful! Love the drums.

Thank you! Needed a cathartic little romp.

Love the energy of the song. and I'm happy for your partner, biopsies are rough enough but least you had some good news

Oh, my gosh... dude... I can't even tell you. It was like the sun came out after 3 weeks without it.
