Sustain Gains

Here's the result of something I've been wanting to do for a while: feature my son on the sax-o-ma-phone! He likes the hip hop and the jazz, so with that general direction in mind, I laid down some foundations on the Push: bass, chords and finger drums. I finally managed to get him in the room Saturday night after dinner, he was a little reluctant but he took the leap. Hearing my foundation he immediately had feedback, which was great: moving chords around, changing the key (loving the new Ableton Midi tools that made this easier). Then I sat down on drums and we jammed together with the backing tracks. He got more and more confident as we went and when we were done he said, "I'd do that again." Proud papa here.
He's on tenor sax, and he just switched to that this summer from alto to get into the top jazz band at the high school (they only needed a tenor and the teacher thought he could swing it). Can't wait to see how he evolves. He's also starting to make beats in Ableton with friends. I hope experiences like this make a lasting impression and he does stick with music beyond school, but who knows. His path is still unfolding and that's wonderful. We see the gains every day we want to sustain!

WOW. This is hiiiiiip! The sax was super tastefully done/ What a jam, super groovy and perfectly executed. Those keys were also very tastefully executed. What a blast! Favoriting this one, it's one of the best tracks i've heard this year.

Oh yeah, you can be proud on this track. It is so jazzy and cool. Your son is brilliant. I wish I could play like him. But I am using my alto only once a week for 2 month now. Have to practice more. Wish to see more of both of you. Thanks so far.

Cool collab with your son!  He's definitely got nothing to be shy about as the sax sounds fantastic and really adds a lot to this.  Glad to hear he ended up having fun with it.  It's groovy, jazzy, and chill all at once.
