I started today playing around with my contribution to the Disquiet Junto collaboration project I'll be submitting a couple tracks for tomorrow. I realized I wasn't feeling that excited. There's that feeling you want when creating music you know? Kinda magic. If it's not there, then things feel more like work. The collab track I was doing was slower, mellower. Very nice, just not fitting my mood this afternoon. So I kept just a small chopped guitar sample of the track and a lot of the sounds (like live drums, djembe, shekere, keys) I was adding to it. I sped things up from 72 to 103 bpm and started over. Then I started to get *that feeling* and was having the funday Sunday tune day I wanted. I think I can go back to the collab with some fresh inspiration now too.

I was thinking about not taking things for granted. Granting the musical practice this week in gratitude of weekly music making and the opportunity to hang out in and be inspired by some awesome music communities like Weekly Beats.

that magic feeling! the hope, the promise, the faint pleasant odor wafting from 2 rooms away. I feel ya, man, I feel ya.

damn, 4:54 you went right up to the wire! nice little vibey jam, I like the guitar and melodies. your mixes are sounding very balanced these days, can hear everything clearly. glad you found Funday heart

Speeding up seems to have been a good choice, at least for this iteration of the track.  It has an infectious energy and a nice meshing of funk and world beat.

You're describing my experience well! When it works, you feel the forward motion. When it doesn't, you're beating your head against the wall.

A very funky track you got there this week! The synth stabs: good. When the muted guitar comes in: great. When the flute enters: amazing. And then the funky finale with the vocoder: aww yiss. Like this meme:

A nice mixture of genres. Your music is a genre of its own. I feel ethno, funk, electronic music and so much more. It sounds full and infectious. Well done.

Love the ethno flutes and cool percs added in. Super dynamic and solid, unexpected evolution

Ooooh that smell. Nice when it wafts in! I like going up to the wire, those last minute tweaks! Thanks, appreciate the feedback on the mixing. Slowing but surely making some progress is all I can hope.

Yeah, so hard to work on a slow jam when feeling like dancing! Meshing those styles is one of my happy places, I think, glad the energy was infectious, that's always nice, thanks for checking it out!

Ha, love this gif! Yeah so much more fun when it's clicking and you're moving forward with a big smile. Glad you dug the funky jam this week, thanks for checking it out.

Thanks so much. Wow a genre of its own, that's a cool comment, I appreciate that. I never know what genre most of my songs are, so I'll just have to make something up maybe.

Thanks for commenting, I like that the evolution was unexpected, that's great.

Those flutes are great. Yeah, I feel so lucky too, being able to have a space where I can compose-record is great, plus I still play with a good friend of mine every 2 weeks or so... Very nice!

Oh yais those flutes are indeed awesome sounding.  Especially with the live percussion feel of the drums.  A funky fresh tune for getting a bbq going or just a good dance outside smile  Always nice when the inspiration vibes kick in for sure!

just embarrassed myself chair-dancing to this  big_smile
thanks for getting me moving! i like how the tension builds for a minute then the skies open up and those flutes take us

Just like above, when the beat kicks in at 0:28, it is uncontrollable, you start moving, really nice groove and some great vocoder as usual.  That flute is such a nice surprise, very fun track.

Really nice movement in this, a definite shifting groove that pulls you along (pleasantly!) as the song progresses, really fun!

We're having a party in the realm of giant magic mushrooms! When the low tom hits, that gets the whole forest moving around. You makde a crazy orchestra in this track, with so much happening, but all working together. The delays! The aaaaahaaaaa! The flute!!!! That fluuuuute! Oh that was good! Favoriting this track!

i asked my brother once his advice for making music and he told me "follow the feels"
it's kinda been my art makin' mantra
glad you got there this week!

Flutes for the win, I love these flutes. They're from a free pack for ableton from guy called Behr, Santuri Safari, highly recommended. He set samples up with some nice racks for playability. I like some good bbq starting dance outside vibes, glad you that thought, thanks!

That's so great to hear, inspiring some movement and fun makes me very happy. Thanks for checking it out. I haven't been doing much vocoder, but it will be back more!

Haha, love your comment, it's a party too! I like hanging out in the giant mushroom realm where the low tom is our call to the party and the flutist is always welcome. Thanks for the comment!

You know, that is a really good art makin' mantra! Maybe one of the only guiding lights you need. Let the feels be the guide, love it. Thanks for sharing this and checking this out!

I like the funk in this.
