Gimli's Lament

By miraclemiles on April 25, 2024 1:58 am

This is a reduction distillation edit of a longer live session with Creatures Once bandmate Monstrosus. He was taking lead improviser duties with those tasty flute sounds. Playing some sounds from iOS, not sure what exactly, and controlling with keyboard. I added percussion, bass and various other sounds during the session, then played some live drums over it the next day, using some percussion sounds from the e-drum kit, as well as acoustic drum sounds.

This is another quick creation week. Getting this posted early before taking a few days off work to visit the SF bay area for the weekend with my wife. Very grateful for some time away and a nice change in routine.

As I was finishing this my old cat Gimli is pacing at my feet, looking for attention, and eyeing my plate of food. I imagined him out in a surreal forest, stalking about with all kinds of creatures, doing what cats do, being regal and singing the songs of their people. This AI image I made actually looks a lot like Gimli, uncanny.

Next week I'll catch up on listening to WB tunes, looking forward to it. Have a good one everybody.

Hi to Gilmli!  As I was listening to this my cat Brownie (who looks a little like the cat in the image) jumped up on my lap.  I think she approves.  I dig the fusion of tribal vibes and chill vibes.  It's kind of like someone dropped a space age bachelor pad in the middle of a jungle.

I would love to hear a concert of your band after hearing this. Would be a 12 hour flight tho :-/ great vibe, rich and colourful. Enjoy your trip!

feeling those tropical rainforesty vibes.  Def can imagine Gimli slowly prowling along with the others.  Really laid back especially with those flute lines.  Combined with the bass feels like I should get some mosquito repellant! smile  Hope the bay is a fun getaway!

Gimli programmed the artificial intelligence which runs this whole simulation, this is why the AI image within the simulation would simulate Gimli. Gimli is the air we breathe, the songs we write, and the laments we lavish. Gimli is always deliberate. This track does Gimli great honor heart

Yes, glad Brownie approves, give them a scratch for me. Ha, I love that description. I would go to that jungle space age bachelor pad for sure. Thanks for checking it out!

Hey thank you! Yeah that's a long flight! I just hope someday we will play live somewhere, but it will probably just be a recording project.

Haha, yes he's prowling along and the mosquitos run from the bold Gimli. The bay was fun and crazy and chaotic, a cool place to visit for sure.

Raja, great to see your comment! Yes, you have figured it out! Gimli is running this whole thing. Our music must serve him now. Good on you for spotting the true nature of reality!

Enjoy the time off, love the eastern vibe of the flute, if I didn't read the description I would have had the imagery of being lost in a desert coming across an old village.  Once I read the description, yes also works for Gimli roaming with his band of creatures.

Really neat layering of sounds and overall feeling. The bass and percussion get into a kind of trance-like vibe for me and let the melodic instruments shine.

this was so cool! ALL HAIL GIMLI

thank you thank you, always good to get away from home for a minute, see a wild and stimulating place like SF. I love your imagery, I hear that too. The eatern sounding flute really does seem to belong to the desert. I think Gimli and his crew go to the desert too.

Yeah, since this lightly edited from what we were doing live, a lot of parts like bass and percs just looping and creating a nice trance-like vibe, I would want to keep that if we edit it more, and let the lead lead us along. Thanks for listen and comment!
