Creeping Mire

By miraclemiles on October 6, 2024 10:29 pm

Creeping through the mire. Observing the decay as we prepare for the winter ahead. Some sludgy sounds for passing through and discovering what awaits as the veil between the living and the dead thins.
I keep hearing about excitement that creepy season is here. And all the other names for it. The more I hear it, the more its coloring my views of the decay and seasonal change around me. Is there something spooky and creepy about the season? I don't watch very much horror entertainment like so many people I know do. Sticks in my brain too much. But the creepy  vibes and this thinning of the veil time is a fun way to transition the seasons and our minds for what's ahead. What is ahead? I hope it's good. Stay safe out there!

No need to write an apocalyptic soundtrack. I personally love the October, the colors of the trees, the smells and the harvest time.  I totally want to ignore Halloween and all the negative vibes they are producing 24/7. Nature is the beauty and it is real.

Live drums sound awesome and in your face with the cymbals.  The amp distortion made me think of what Jimi's band would sound like with a giant Moog on stage as they go through rehearsals.  Love the groove of this throughout.  Suhweet outro with those lil textures too.

Yeah I hear you! I love this time of year too. Beautiful and magical. And yes the harvest! Sometimes I get into the Halloween side of the season too, but like I said, I don't too much horror content, most of it is too much for me. I'm fascinated by the history and different cultural practices of this time of year, there's some interesting similarities. Funny humans and the things we do!

Thanks for checking it out. Yeah actually the in your faceness of live drums was something I wasn't too sure about after uploading, maybe could adjust mix on those a little more ...  I added those live drums later on Sunday, but all good. In your face it will be for this. Glad you felt the groove and the in your face didn't make you turn it off smile. Haha, I love that idea of Jimi with a Moog. You know if the time was right it could have happened. Would be epic!

As a kid summer was my favorite time of year, probably because of summer vacation, but now as an adult I find I much prefer fall and especially October.  Just something about the feeling in the air.  I enjoy a little bit of Halloween vibes, but more in the "monster mash" way than serious horror.  There's enough horror in the world all year round as is I'm starting to find.  I do feel like this track has a nice bit of Halloween flavor to it.  Definitely gives some visuals of dark forests and creepy old houses.

I love the autumn för the calmer energy, getting ready to just cozy up inside. And the veil being thinner between the worlds feels more inspirational to me than creepy, but maybe because I dont watch horror (anymore) and instead use this time as a way to remember and connect to the people who went before

That's a cool industrial tune though!

Oh yeah that was a good heavy and dark drum beat for October! I can totally relate about horror movies - i am totally unable to watch an horror movie, they are way too much for me. It's already the end of year, where has 2024 gone?

I can relate. Summer just too hot sometimes, in many places, so fall feels like a great relief. A good feeling in the air for sure. Love some monster mash fun vibes too, the fun family friendly party side of halloween. Let's hope the horror of the world doesn't bring us down too much this season. One month from elections! Thanks for commenting!

Yes, love this viewpoint. Season to transition. I love the celebration of those who went before, a good time to do that! Thanks for commenting!

For sure, just too much! Thanks for checking it out, had fun trying to be darker, way darker heavier vibes than anything I usually create. Where has the year gone indeed, I sure don't know. Time is a mystery sometimes.

I find fall can be both spooky and cozy haha. This is some crazy sound design, so heavy and energized. I really like the drums and whatever reverb/etc you used that gives them that feeling of distance/depth.

Lovely grunge and grime to this. Rad sound design as usual.

2:25 gave me a jump scare! this rules, miraclemiles
i think the live drums sound killer and i also would have loved to hear the Jimi Moog Experience  yikes

nice work, Friend

Great news industrial sound as we enter the seasonal fall, here’s to the eventual rise as decay brings forth new life. I have to say when I am using ableton that amp device usually finds a way into every track, I love the dirt you can dial in, it’s one of my favorite overdrive plugins and it’s stock.

This fit in quite well with my playlist this week, been listening to mostly the repress of Selected Ambient Works Vol II and Blood Incantation's new album.  Those drums do really sound good and great feedback from the amp in Ableton (so many good effects in Ableton).

For someone without much exposure to horror media, you pull off a surprisingly good slasher horror soundtrack. Funnily, for W40 I went for a kind of a similar vibe with guitars and distortions.

So true, spooky and cozy! Thank you! Not my usual vibe but was super fun. Appreciate that feedback on the drums, I'm always experimenting with what to do, nice when something lands. Then I just have to remember what it was I did so I can  do it again. Ok, so I wanted to go look at what I did on those drums since I forgot. Six tracks, lots of the Ableton Roar distortion and convolution reverb, drum buss device, comppression ... that was fun.

Haha, thank you Friend! Hopefully didn't scare you too much smile Glad you liked the live drums, I think I hit them hard for this. Yeah Jimi Moog Experience sounds pretty neat, sounds like a good prompt for a future track!

Yes, here's to the decay and rise of new life in the cycle! Thanks for checking it out. Yeah amp is awesome. Loving Roar too, still figuring out its nuance.

Oh cool this fit you playlist. I actually listed to SAM vol 2 as well after you posted about it in one of your songs! I do not know Blood Incantation, but that name gives me good clue. Glad you liked the drums, I shared up above about what I did there, had to go back and look. Amp is awesome, and Roar, I think the combo of them could be fun, or maybe just hard to tame. I have been trying to use mostly stock ableton lately. Thinking about going push standalone someday, maybe performing with that, so the stock will be needed.

Hey, thanks, that's awesome this sounds like could be slasher soundtrack! I've heard my share  of metal and industrial over the years, appreciate that stuff in the right moment even though that's not where I go when producing stuff. I'm deciding if there's any horror flicks to try and watch this halloween, my wife and I will watch a trailer and be like nah, too scary lol. We'll find something old cheesy and fun.
