Wind Tunnel

By Minnamari on January 1, 2026 9:07 pm

Arriving to 2026 with fingers that haven't played in a long time (unless you count building with Legos and toy train tracks) and feeling a bit lost and confused so I decided to just do a free flowing spontaneous song from one sentence I had written in my notebook: "wind tunnel in my mind". So this song feels like some kind of channeling and I'm surprised by the words that came through. Interesting to let go of planning and let the voice just express. It is something I am curious to explore more.

Sorry for the sound quality (And for any other future phone recordings because my goal for this year is to show up in whatever capacity I am and sometimes it might just be a simple scratchy phone recording.) glad to be here regardless, cheers! smile

Lyrics:

Wind tunnel in my mind
I thought I had arrived
already
But it seems I'm going back again
And have to face myself
On a new place
In a new way
Ain't that the way it all goes
In a spiral

Wind tunnel in my mind
Thought I had left it all behind and yet it's still here for me to face
In myself
And yet when I see your face
I remember there is still grace
And maybe I can get to a new place
An old place on the next stage
Of the spiral

It all blows through
The wind tunnel in my mind
Thought I left it behind
There's always more to face
There's always grace
If you see a face
To call you back

oh what a pleasure to hear you again minnamari!

I think those fingers don't sound too out of practice smile lovely first track.

Hey Minnamari, welcome back! I think it's pretty cool a single line inspired that kind of lyrical exploration of cycles and return. I totally agree that weeklybeats is more about the participation and (available) effort rather than always having to put something super polished out there. That's why the "speedtrash" term is so popular in the community, haha. So I'm cool with hearing phone recordings throughout the year!

i love the honesty in this piece! The phone recording only enhances it!

Very refreshing to hear something immediate like this. Very nice!

hi Friend! thank you for this heart

Super happy you are back!

I hope the maternity is good, kid and mother healty. Wish you a very nice new 2026 year!

This Uke - Vocals take was a pleasant listen.

This reminds me of Nico's "These Days" as well the entirety of "The Milk-Eyed Mender" by Joanna Newsom, who is one of my favorite artists. Really nicely done!!! I think the scratchy cell phone recording truly enhances the delivery on this and lends it even more authenticity. Really, really lovely.
Welcome back to WB 2026, friend! Awesome to see you here smile

I really enjoyed this, love the melody, so pretty. The recording sounds pretty good honestly, I wouldn't have thought it was from a phone if you hadn't specified it!

Hi Minnamari!!! So nice to hear you again! Beautiful lyrics improvisation, that's one of the most tricky things to do and yours always seems to come from the heart! Welcome back, this is gonna be a great weeklybeats year!

So good to hear you back! Def nothing wrong with the phone recording.  Just makes me feel like I'm listening in the room smile  love the lyrics too.  well done!

Beautiful, lovely melody, lovely lyrics. Phone recording honestly kind of adds to the immediacy and authenticity of the whole thing, I love raw takes like this, this is really what WB is all about

Yay! here's to spiraling together in 2026. thank you

All the best for you and the little ones you care for in 2026. I liked the wind tunnel.

This wind tunnel definitely came through with its output of words.
