Four Birds

By Minnamari on October 17, 2024 4:05 pm

This song is dedicated to the four birds that flew against our windows. I'm ashamed it had to be so many, until I finally did some research about what would help the most, and got some curtains (I researched it, and it seems light curtains in particular help to reduce the reflection and thankfully no more birds have flown into the glass these last weeks so I hope it will stay that way).

This was a very spontaneous song that came through the same day as bird number four happened. I recorded it by my keyboard, the microphone swallows some sounds but I think it's good enough for such a spontaneous recording and I feel I managed to express the emotion.

Lyrics:

Why would you kill two birds with one stone?
I don't even want to kill the one
but a third bird flew against the window
and now it's time to dig a hole below the oak tree,
it told me,
that it wants to guard these tiny bones

We pick flowers, purple, pink, yellow, white and blue,
and lift the little body in, maybe sing a little tune
saying, be at peace, farewell,
or enjoy living a new life
somewherever that may be,
hope you fly free

Why would you kill two birds with one stone?
I don't even want to kill one
but a fourth bird flew and hit the glass
just like before
and now it's time to dig grave number four
why do these windows have to be so damn large for?
It wasn't my idea, who knew, that just to have this lovely view
four birds would pay for it with their lives,
these little birds that flew into that lovely, lovely view
and found out it was glass, not a tree

Be at peace, or fly free
somewherever you may be

Be at peace, or fly free
I promise to get some curtains
