twin peaks is back. but this one got very out of hand and the mixing/mastering is a mess. project got over scoped what can i say; too many things going on. will keep it simple next week and like, one genre. started with a riff, and thought it would be fun to write a song about bobby slowly losing control of things. song starts out chill and gradually goes off the rails. i love u bobby but please stop it x

hate how messy this one got, but it's weekly beats and here it is smile tried some telephone sounding vocals, and did the first maisie marra blast beat. i did briefly try to learn to do like a growl vocal, but that was perhaps overly ambitions for such a short time sad something for the future heart

THANKS FOR LISTENING heart

lyrics:
his head in his hands at the wheel
(there's no way out)
how come the brightest stars, always fall so hard?
worried about what they'll say
always the strangest parts; leave the deepest scars

his heavy heart, it doesn't show
it's beating so fast, he's kissing me slow
james dean's smile on an open road
i keep fucking things up, he keeps letting me know

i know she hurt you,
but is that your excuse?
things seems to only get worse
the more than you do

love the telephone-tunnel FX on the vocals at the beginning. and a slightly detuned synth in the back? dreamy as always.

oh shit and THAT ENDING

Taking chances is a good look. Please keep these coming!

Yo. Maisie. Maisie!! What is that riff at 2:10?! big_smile
Could be a Porcupine Tree song from the "In Absentia" era! Maybe the vocal having that radio sound and the atmosphere have something to do with that, too. So cool - but yeah, sounds like a doozy trying to get it written AND recorded in a week.

Reading the description, I was expecting way worse. It sounds OK on my headphones (I am only listening to those weekly beats and no big production, so no killer production to compare to right away)

I like that you did pull out the aggressive drums and guitars!

Fun track, you can always come back to it later if you feel it needs it.

how much it opens up in the chorus. love it.
the metal edge at the end was unexpected but greatly appreciated

bobbyyyyyyy

love that outro this is so cool

great stuff! it didn't felt like many genres, just like one song evolving over time

amazing work it ended up sounding awesome

awesome, this is that stuff they book people at roadburn for

The tension builds so nicely to the beat intro between your vocals and the guitar.  Ooof that heavy guitar sounds awesome! So good right at 2:39 \m/ Such an excellent build and release.  This feels cathartic too smile  Also not sure if you've seen it on YT but Matt Draper does these introspective reviews on old movies and series and he recently talked about Season 1 of Twin Peaks. here's the copy pasta https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrX2DRw3A_A

Damn! Kicked it up a notch there towards the end with the nasty metal riffs. Can we start a band?

slow is good
slow is our friend
slow lets us breathe

this is bobby AF

i was like... how is this going to get heavy? and then KAPOW you did it  \m/

Like djippy was saying. I was expecting worse with that kind of description. You set rather high standard for yourself heart An amazing track, and absolutely love when it got NASTY at the end. Could totally hear where that growl would have fit it!  Also agree with Cakes, love the experimental nature of this! Keep ‘em coming!

It's funny getting to this after all the other comments, because as I read about the ending, it built up some hype for sure... and I think it lived up to it.  I love the little breath before that last riff, very nice touch.

Unexpected chugging at the end, hell yeah, girl. I wonder what inspired you to try the growl, and I hope to hear the result at some point!

oof, I almost forgot... ★★★★★

think some of this might have been ear fatigue to be honest, on listening a few days later it's sort of okay heart a lil muddy but it's grand like. i had been listening to it for about 3 hours straight at time of upload and perhas my sanity was lower than usual 😂

thanks so much heart

i REALLY wanted that breath to lead into a black metal fry scream but i did not work it out in time!! left the breath in tho because it was a little bit fun heart

can't lie it was pretty much 100 percent rolo tomassi 😂

Ugh those telephone vocals at the start sound so beautifully delicate, and then when the track opens up to your clean vocals and synths it sounds so bright and BIG!!

I think the mix sounds great, can definitely relate to ear fatigue getting me down on a mix and then listening back the next day not knowing what I was so concerned about.

Love the heavy section at the end too! That pause and then the breath into breakbeat just hits so hard.

Wb is fun bc you can do whatever the hell you want and nobody cares, except for the 27 ppl here!

The heavy part rocks

I thought it sounded polished! Love the transition from soft to very very heavy, without it sounding out of place. Great arrangement, really!

This is super lush! Amazing stuff. big_smile

+1 this, I'd be psyched to hear a combo of your and ViridianLoom's sounds on WB!

I love messy weeklybeats, especially with that awesome guitar
