blood moon

By MaisieMarra on February 15, 2026 10:51 pm

sometimes when i don't know where to start, i just mix two genres together and see what happens. i tried to mix the doomgaze stuff i did in an earlier week with some trap and it sort of works? i don't absolutely love this, i think it was really hard to mix/master and it came out a bit messy, but there is something cool about it. the supersaw really went a bit witchhouse too. the original concept of maisie marra, before it was even called that, was supposed to be 50% witch house, so it's sort of a return to origins this week in a twisted way. i liked the low and high line vocal harmony thing on the verses too, tried to make something sound like a witch chant.

only started this one on Saturday because my earlier attempts this week suckeddddd, so it's a lil short but it is what it is it's been a tough week, just trying to keep my head up with it heart

season 5 of riverdale was absolute bust to be honest, but season 6 has captured my love once again. i wrote this one is for Abigail Blossom, the dead witch relative of Cheryl who wants to destroy the town of riverdale. much love queen, do ur thing heart

shout out my friend Max for the sexy vocal sample too. BET.

lyrics:
I’ll make you eat those words

if it’s, the last thing I do

too long without being heard

but I’ve been screaming for you

x2
cursed them with my last breath

now I’m back from the dead

they watched me burn to death

i’ll watch the streets run red

a blood moon in the sky

you won’t get out alive

take one more look at the light

it’s a beautiful night

x2
cursed them with my last breath

now I’m back from the dead

they watched me burn to death

i’ll watch the streets run red

Cyberpunk night club vibe. I can see how mixing it was tricky, but sounds massive. Paid off. I looked through the entire website here, but I found no notes. Just those five stars.

Oh, by the way, cool minimal drums you got there, too. They remind me of something 🤓

Those little cuts and hesitations and drop outs just absolutely sculpt the mood of this song, it works so well. The filtered guitar is also very subdued but menacing, really powerful.

Guitar continues to be absolutely killer, but those synths are sublime! That drop before the heavier guitar comes in is so good!

this combo works amazingly!! those vocal harmonies in the verse are so good

The supersaw is rad esp with the drop outs

oooo this is so lovely

Sounds great to me. The messiness is a plus, it sounds completely organic while staying balanced. Loving the energy.

the pauses! would love a breakdown of your vocal recording/mixing process; they're always so clean.

lovely as always

Whoa those background super distorted guitars are wild!

Love the juxtaposition of styles with beautiful light vocals. Is the main "guitar" is a bass or downtuned guitar? or it was pitch shifted post recording? This is awesome.

The electronic beat is super cool and works good.

Thanks for sharing this! (My track this week is messy and muddy, yours has good care into it, it sounds like you did put quite a bit of time into it...)

Rock!

THE
ZONE

This is fucking great! Congrats! Maybe the drums a bit louder... maybe not. This is good music.

The concept works for sure. I hear what you are saying about the mix. All that really matters is that I listened to it three times and I love it. smile

this is MASSIVE, your production is so good. The drop outs really grab your attention. Nice work, as usual smile

Very cool experiment, I definitely think it works... but I would put trap drums on gamelan gendhing, so like, I'm not to be trusted.

Those trap drums as the main underpinning for that huge wash of guitars and keys sounds great. Drops to silence are super effective, like flashes of lightning. Amazing vocals over the top as usual. Short but awesome - love your sound!

fairly perfect, very inspiring!!

oooh that fade in when the guitar and supersaw combine so nice! The guitars have such awesome tone to them. Well done!

I love the darker feel here. It's a beautiful mix with everything working together as a whole with the vocal nestled inside. Cutting the music at the very end is EPIC

Depressingly awesome, as usual! Nailed it.

Hell yes to witchy feminine rage! Resonates with my soul right now. Sounds amazing. Those lyrics though! HEARD!

Another beautiful track. The vocals are amazing!

Those e drums sound sweet with the doom gaze thing.  Very cool idea.

Oh this is ominous and dreadful in all the best ways. Great stuff.

loved the whole Riverdale ExPiernece. will we ever get the "betty tells the governor to stand down while in pursuit of a cult leader dressed as eval keneval trying to escape in a rocketship" track?

ok for real HOW did i not do an edgar evernever song. i had to jump onto twin peaks because the 24th is the day he first enters the town and it just lined up almost perfectly, but I have to go back at some point this year. IT's LUCAS SCOTT in a trench coat, with a full evel knievel jumpsuit; huge slip-up on my part. I think i'm just so deep into season 7 at the minute i forgot about edgar sad

I love your tracks! Great melodies and ambience overall, but the vocals are the best heart this been my fav so far!

huge track makes me want to throw things in slow motion

BANGER. I really enjoy the witch house vibes this is giving. I would say an experiment that definitely paid off! Really enjoyed this!

Awesome doomgaze / trap combo! Great sonic atmosphere for a blood moon.
