Square One

By Lyons on January 10, 2016 11:50 pm

So keen to get back in Weeklybeats! I pulled this together in an hour this morning.
Yesterday I was betrayed by someone I trusted so we're kicking off with a bit of a dark vibe.
Most melodies are improvised, got scratchy bow percussion, ostinatos and an underlying chord progression to drive the piece.

As usual all tracks are recorded double bass with a small amount of reverb.
Cheers guys!

I love this one.  I want to download it.

Nice piece of music. Really dig that scratchy percussion. Great start!

Heck yeah. This is fantastic. I really relate to the feels of this piece.

Loving the colours. That slow sul pont. glissando, my heart stopped for a second. It's very bittersweet.

lush! really nice movement to this piece.

Lovely. Definitely an improvement since 2014 - keep it up man!

Great texture.

Wonderful piece! Great balance between the forward momentum along with a more retrospective feel.

Glad to see you back, Lyons! I do feel you've matured your musical storytelling also. Really good piece, very cinematic: it catches that emotional tension very well

By, the way: would it be OK if I sample and chop the very first bar, so I could mess with those jazzy bass notes a little bit?

Great start for this WB'2016

catchy yet complex. love it.

Lovely :-) Your string playing is spot on.

Wow!

I've put in a lot of hours to gain more control and expression.

Thanks man, it's great you feel there's a difference. Another indicator that I'm moving forward technically and musically.

Feel free to sample/manipulate/chop my weeklybeats as you wish! (Same goes for others)

I love that sneaky ostinato

This where it's at.  Great track.
