Three Hours Drive To Grandma's House

The idea behind this week 3 is that I wanted to create a square lead with this feel of soft nostalgic touch. I played the game Perfect Tides (It's so good, play it !!) recently and one of the tracks gave me those feels (I think it was "Island at Night" ?). So I tried replicate this feeling I had during my time playing the game. The memories, teenage wierd and sad years, the feeling of time passing. I'm not sure I'm convinced by the structure of the track itself but the overall vibe is satisfying to me.

Took out a banjo I got and almost never played, and overall, I'm happy about what it gave to the vibe (It was my first time recording an acoustic instrument on a daw and I was scared but in the end I think I kinda nailed it ?). I don't technically know how to play the banjo but I love the sound. I wanted it to sound like Phoebe Bridgers "Graceland Too" but it ended up feeling more like a "Outer Wilds" track haha !

On the flip side I feel like it's not a very interesting track. I wanted to play a bit more with space and silence but, maybe it's a bit too much ? Also not being a good guitar/banjo player make the banjo part a bit poor ? Anyway, I had a hard time making this track because of a huge lack of inspiration, but I got it done !! :DD

Congrats on YOUR week 3, and thank you very much if you share any feedback to help me get better, and/or if you took time to listen to it !!

Banjo sounds good, it was recorded really well.
There was some small timing wonkyness in few places, but it didn't sound like someone who cannot play banjo. It did fit the track.

>On the flip side I feel like it's not a very interesting track
Well, depends how you define "interesting", but it's definitely not boring. It's calmer, slower track that's still enjoyable to listen to

Thank you very much ! I am very happy about how I mixed the banjo and I feel that it sounds really good ! But yeah indeed, a few mishaps I wasn't invested enough to correct not by note haha !

I am indeed scared that it's boring and it doesn't bring much to the table but I may be a bit harsh on this track ! Happy you enjoyed it !! big_smile

Breezy, easy to fall in to

I really like the blend of instruments in this one, and the nostalgic, quiet longing vibe.
Good job! ^^

This would definitely fit for the scenery along the drive to my Grandmothers which luckily is about 1 & a half hours.

I'm really happy you feel that way and you feel what I wanted to create through this piece ! Thank you very much !! (And enjoy your next trip to your grandma's big_smile)

Love this, very relaxing. I would definitely not put this up while driving, that's for sure.
The banjo is nice, it adds some nice flavor, though it's quite late.

Thank you very much !! Yeah I agree, it's a bit too long before the banjo ! A lesson to learn for sure !

This is amazing! The synths are beautiful.
