Solstici

For this week's beat, Colorful Grey sent me some stems from his last upload. They are filtered and pitched tape samples. I stretched and pitched the lead to align it with the beat grid and up the tempo. This track was another attempt to find a balance between soundscape and dance track, texture and form, analog and digital.

Perhaps the scene is an extraterrestrial rave celebrating a solstice in a distant galaxy. The star powered ship is fully charged and ready to embark on its next voyage through warped space.

Listen to Colorful Grey's track: a hideout

Thanks for listening and thanks to Colorful Grey for providing creative building blocks.

Very cool work. The sample stretching texture is great.

Really like how the stretched samples contribute to the overall soundscape of this mix.  I think "warped space" is a great description as well, especially on the outro. I also pick up on little nuances in timbre and pitch each time I listen. Really cool.

thank you so much -- collaborations are actually a big part of why i came back to WB for 2024. hearing that voice sample in this context is such a thrill. i especially love the quiet part around 1:10 (big surprise there) but it is amazing what you came up with. tip of the hat sir.
