lol! I am enjoying these self-comments lately, trying to set the tone and invite people to meet the level of criticism. I don't mind a little unnecessary roughness here and there; that said I am about 20x more polite on other peoples' WBs. I do know how to use a limiter... mostly. I was just being lazy. and I would like to encourage myself to stop being so dang lazy.

I like that sound too, thank you smile there actually was a red sky the morning of the day I made this. I adore those mornings, not only because it means it's going to rain that day. I had forgotten about that until I made the track, and I got a distinct feeling of lurking, something slowly writhing deep in inky black depths, and the train of thought led me back to that beautiful sunrise.

Red sky red sky. I sense the ominous waves lapping on this boat, skrimishire

I really dig the abuse of the limiter/compressor actually.  Haha.  Also interesting with the beat being minimal but front and centre with the melodic elements way back in the mix.  The noise floor is also saying hello.  smile

thank you smile I don't think there was any (intentional) limiting!  I was more commenting on the out-of-control levels. definitely some pops though - I was like, oh, whoops, that's what that feedback oscillator does, hehe. also when I listened back to this after making it, it was way darker (spectrum-wise) than I expected. yeah, I tend to consciously do that with the melodic stuff (when I remember to), I think I read somewhere a long time ago that the ear tends to notice cyclic/melodic sounds anyway, so you can get away with mixing them a lot more quietly. I might have overdone it though...

I'm always down with a little noise floor big_smile

I like that I didn't comment on this one -- but I had it on my phone and played it for you in my car. One of my faves of yours, love that beat (and am inspired by it)
