Sand Rubies

My wonderful friend Billy introduced me to Sand Rubies that are found in the Sabino Canyon area of Tucson. I of course, did a little research and found out they are garnets from the Catalina and Rincon mountains that wash down and provide that ruby sparkle. I’ve been around the world and know this is a special place.

Verse
With my active mind and imagination
Could I go beyond the expectations
A girl with such a humble start
Answer the call of my yearning heart
Chorus
My dreams were like the Arizona islands in the sky
Above the heat a common girl could fly
As time weathers the peaks into sand
Their sand rubies sparkle in my hands
Verse
A small and simple girl trying to walk so tall
Twists and turns to dead end walls
From lush green valleys to the highest peaks
Finding the view and vision that I seek
Chorus
My dreams were like the Arizona islands in the sky
Above the heat a common girl could fly
As time weathers the peaks into sand
Their sand rubies sparkle in my hands
Verse
I’ve been clothed in rags and worn the crown
Seen the world and trod its sacred ground
Raised my voice in joyful sound
Living satisfied on the love I’ve found
Chorus
My dreams were like the Arizona islands in the sky
Above the heat a common girl could fly
As time weathers the peaks into sand
Their sand rubies sparkle in my hands
Their sand rubies sparkle in my hands
