[lyrics]
forth we go as friends, we go as friends,
the train has come, we go as friends,
the rain has come, farewell
**
now time to say goodbye, to wave goodbye,
the train has come, we go as friends, farewell
**
forth we go as friends, we go as friends,
the train has come, we go as friends,
the rain has come, goodbye
**
now time to say goodbye, to wave goodbye,
the train has come, we go as friends, farewell
**
together is fleeting, together we fly
apart from each other, we part for a time;
the weather was better together, and yet
the clouds part, and our hearts will beat together again

This one takes material from my last WeeklyBeat from 2018 and my first WeeklyBeat from this year. I was hoping I'd get a chance to try that before 2020 wrapped up. Probably should've saved it for the very end of the year, but here it is.

Thanks for everything this year - for listening, for constructive feedback, for encouragement. I'll miss WeeklyBeats a ton next year!

This is delightful, I like sitar intro into the vocal passages and the way it builds up and elevates at the end of the track. I actually had a similar idea for the final week of the year too haha, taking one of my songs last year and doing a rendition of it. We're almost there smile.

Wonderful

This is really cool, loving the instrumentation and the vocals.  Sharp 4s always makes me happy too.

What vocaloid did you use for this and was it tough to use?  I've been kind of wanting to try one but am a little intimidated based off how tedious I hear they can be.

Nice vocaloid work! Awesome smile

Beautiful! What a nice tradition for your WB years. Very solid song definitely worth revisiting each season.

I guess now we know where this year has taken us.

Time to board this train and go to a better place.

I love the vibe of an exotic chiptune - sitar lines are really nice. But of course what stands out in this track is the vocaloid! That's INSANE. Awesome track.

Neat to hear! big_smile Your tracks are fantastic, so I'm looking forward to it. And yep, we're almost there. Just a few more weeks to go!

Thanks! As to the question, I used one of the Vocaloid 5 presets. Doing what I did here wasn't too hard: the editor lets you draw in MIDI like you would in Logic (minus a few quality of Logic's life shortcuts), and the main feature that Vocaloid prides itself on (type in any lyrics and Vocaloid will assign each syllable to each note) works like magic. The hard part is getting things to sound clear and reigning in some of Vocaloid's odder default choices when it comes to expression. I'll need to practice that going forward!
Overall, I'm liking it a lot. Just be warned that it can be a pain to get up and running; and I've been having trouble getting it to work within my DAW itself, so I've been spending a lot of time hopping back and forth between the Vocaloid editor and Logic.
Hope this helps!

Thanks! Though I hope I can do better going forward.

Much appreciated! The original was inspired by how much I was going to miss WB the next year. I know I'll feel that way again in 2021.

A better place...nah, I don't think Super Nintendo World is open yet. tongue
Someday though!

Thank you! I've still got a long way to go before I can get Vocaloid parts sounding natural. I'll do my best though!
