Breaking Trance

By lasko303 on January 11, 2026 11:54 pm

Hi gang!
This week was super tricky, as expected.. Felt some pressure going in week 2 since I was so happy with my week one track and I wanted to deliver something equally 'good'.
Started week 2 on Tuesday. First few hours felt good, got a nice loop going and had some ideas how to move further later.
Was busy the rest of the week, so i picked it up yesterday. The pressure was on, since the deadline was around the corner and I still only had a loop. So the fight began. big_smile
Took the Track in a really weird direction, which in my head seemed like a cool idea, but in reality didn't work out as I wished.

I was prepared for an all-nighter, ready to get the song back on track, when I got a message of a friend asking, if I was down to go out clubbing with him.
First I was like: no, I need to finish the track.
But since we just reconnected some weeks ago after like 4 years of not seeing each other (living in the same city ^^), I was like: Fuck it! I will speedtrash something later. big_smile

Breaking Trance is the outcome of last nights situation:
The energy on the floor was peaking when I decided to leave. Knowing, I wouldn't finish my week 2 track if I stayed longer.
When I left the club it was freezing cold outside (like -10°C), but the sky was clear and the sun already shining.
On my way to the train station, I remembered a loop I worked on last year, which really matched the vibe I had in this exact moment.
After like 3 hours of rest I started working on it. In the beginning I wasn't sure if I can get the track in a presentable state. But I have to say, I am really happy how it turned out! smile
I would like to visit this track sometime later. There is still much to expand on and to refine. But for now, it is what it is. Let me know, what you think. I appreciate any feedback!

Thanks for listening to my TED talk! big_smile

Looking forward to what you all have been cooking up the last week!

Big fan of this, I like how you build the track throughout and keep it feeling chill while also being exciting. How did you get the lead sound? I like it a lot. Great work!

I relate to putting pressure on yourself - I've been happy with my submissions, especially because I don't often finish tracks. Now have pressure to keep it up!

I love how it plays around with subtlety, barely containing the bubbling energy and finally after a perfect buildup, at 1:30 it's like "JK we're clubbing now." I love how the bass is deep but airy. The chords at the end are awesome!

I was greatly surprised with those high speed breaks, since I expected a pretty standard trance track.

Great vibes, and lots of energy! Does not sound rushed to me at all. Nice work

Some real storytelling here

1.10: Goosebumps!!

that break when it hits is gold. I really need to try out more long tail basses which just ride with a beat. thank you for the inspiration.

Top notch trance melody! Pleasantly surprised by the breaks too, works really well.

dddduuUUUDDEEEE WHAT
This BANGS! From the first second, the energy is there, and everything just keeps building, keeps me on edge to finally get to the drop - and when it comes, it fuckin' DELIVERS. You really took that club energy home with you. And something about the crystalline synth sounds and breakbeats even transport the chill, crisp, clear air. Bravo!

this doesn't feel like a rushed tracks. so much to like here with the journey through the different sections, some of the chords at the end gave me deadmau5 (which I like) and the mix is good as well. i think it pretty perfectly fits the narrative in your story except for the stress. felt like I went out clubbing with you and parted ways at the end

Really loved this. The breaks integrate super well and don't feel jammed in at all. Great build starting at 1:05. Live the show chores at the end too and the quiet ending. Great track!

Beautiful! Very subtle in its execution. Those chords from around 2 minutes are gorgeous, Simple, but beautiful!

Very nice vibe! Trance is a genre I want to learn at some point, I'm feeling inspired smile

you probably could've taken the party with you by the sound of it
- Ebrit

Nice backstory haha. Those breaks are awesome, probably my favorite part of the song smile

ah that classic retrigging lead sound is really cool, (I would add delay? but I do that to everything XD)

Enjoyed the listen! Thanks

Quite catchy. As a production side note---Ran this track through other 'softer' breakbeats up until the harder break kicks in at 1:30. Any variation of apache break or just any organic 'bongo' break seemed to give a nice groove to this. Could be used in places where the kick drum ain't present.

Peace!

Ibiza sunrise vibes ... Great track!

The breaks were pretty unexpected but very welcome, really nice pacing and mood in this! Beautiful melodies too.

really fun track, breaks section was welcome for sure smile love the gritty trance melodies as well

great energy. like.

idk how I missed this one last week. this is insane once the breaks come in, even if it's not the "purpose" of the track. nice little arps tickling my ear bones, fat breaks, juicy reese. good job.

Hi all!
Thanks for all the lovely comments, feedback and love! It really means a lot to me to be part of this awesome community. smile When i decided to join i wasn't expecting this level of engagement and kindness. After the first few weeks Weeklybeats already feels like a safespace to me. heart

There is one thing i feel like i have to mention about this track, since i dont want to take credit for stuff i didnt do: the lead and the chords are samples from splice. Should have put it in the description when the track went online, but i was so hyped i was able to finish the track, that i totally forgot to talk about production. ^^
It feels a bit unfair to be like: "Look what i did in only one day" when in reality this would have not been possible (for me) without those samples.
I might be overthinking it a little?! Please let me know how you feel about it! Would be nice to hear some thoughts to this.

Hi hamez, thanks for listening! smile The Lead sound is a sample from splice, just slightly edited to fit the arrangement of the track.
I know exactly how you feel, i am the same! big_smile I finished maybe one or two tracks in 2025. Thats why wb26 is already a huge win to me, 'finished' 3 tracks already. I also feel the pressure to deliver, but i feel like this is a proper safespace and its ok to also show some tracks i am not so proud of.
Let's try to keep it fun! smile

I am glad you like it! smile Adding the break to the track took it to the next level. Before, the buildup resolved back to the 4 on the floor beat without much impact. But i was like: "WE NEED MOAR ENERGYYYY!!!". *slaps breakbeat on*. done! ^^

Thanks! The lead melody is a sample from splice. It was a rly nice fit, only needed some light editing to sit right in the track/mix. Haha, when i fist thought about the breaks i was also not sure if its going to work for this track. But i am happy i gave it a shot. big_smile

Thanks for your kind words, monstret! I am so happy the track transported that story to you, since it was my inspiration for that day. big_smile

Thanks a ton, bobbyd! Cool that you mentioned to outro/ending. I also felt like its giving a nice contrast to the high energy before that. smile

Thanks GregVK! I found those chords on splice. They are the highlight of the b section for sure!

I thought about that but felt like the mix is busy enough already. big_smile I should try it nonetheless! Give it some space smile
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks ess! Means a lot coming from you, since one of my first trance jams were build on superberry experiments.

Thanks 0x_colt! If i come back to this track later, id like to expand the breakbeat section a bit. In the meantime i'll collect some inspiration from your jungle bangers! big_smile I hope to show my first jungle track here soon, stay tuned! ^^
