Tumbao

By laguna on February 11, 2018 11:54 pm

Well, first of all, this hasn't any "tumbao" feeling at all, I'm afraid, but just 10 minutes before the deadline I couldn't came with a better title. Not honoring the afrocuban rhythmical tradition, I'm afraid, thouht I think the swing is kinda neat.

I just came off-duty yesterday, and after attending some family matters, almost zero time for music this week, so I tossed this really quick one less than three hours before the deadline. Pretty repetitive I know, it's just a sort of "long bassline" but... maybe adding some melodies here and there it could become something.

I've got now a couple of weeks off-duty so I could be back with the music, I hope. Sorry for not hanging out in the comments section latety. I've got lot of songs to catch up!!!

Peace, everybody. Have a great week smile

Very nice bed, lots of good energy.

Thanks Jim! I'm happy with the beat, though I feel the track is really naked and could use some variety or melody, but the foundations are good enough smile

Here's another nice bed wink

These sounds are all so effective! love the rhythms and the synths

It definitely has potential to be greater. Do you have any plans for it?

Thanks Abludo! I dug some of my own presets, for this kind of situations. After years of starting from scratch, I finally save some preset banks and share them between hardware and software instruments

Thank you Devious. It would be cool to revisit this one in a few weeks time. I think the foundations are good. Anyway, those few weeks will be here any minute, so better be planning now smile

Thank you man! I hope I could "go somewhere" with this one, having more time smile A groove worth saving ...

I hope you’ll invest some more work in this one.
Although that may steal from your future masterpieces.

Thank you Edmond. Well, not because of the "masterpiece" thing, but I'm lately pretty short on time. Of course, you've got the same time as me and you come with cool lyrics plus the music, so I think I have to follow your example smile

Synth sounds great and nice beat, with the little time you had this sounds really good, maybe a little repetitive compared to your usual stuff, but what can you do, excited to hear what’s coming next now that you have more time

Suhweet beat!  I like how the drums sit in the mix (with their swing), almost like you're playing a kit in a warehouse.  A chill bass n drum track smile

Indeed, I felt it was quite incomplete, and I had no time or my usual "cut here and there" rhythm tricks, though I feel it has some potential to develop it further smile

Thanks for the feedback, as usual, Jason smile

I usually leave some gaps or use breaks which are not perfectly pitched so they won't fit exactly in the bar. This way, I can program them in the grid and they still retain some swing wink

More swing here...

This song makes me wonder if there will breakdancing in the cyberpunk dystopian future. Good work!
