The Black Room

By Kedbreak136 on March 29, 2026 6:25 am

A film noir track inspired by Angelo Badalamenti "Pink Room" and Barry Adamson music. I also mentioned in the past my love for the film noir "Le Samourai", and especially the sound of footsteps on the pavement in this movie.

Life is getting on the way, a lot of things are happening not leaving enough time. I hope this will get better soon.

The footstep sounds are indeed oddly satisfying.  The saxophone gives this a nice smoothness.  I can for sure imagine this soundtracking a film noir.  Hope things ease up for you!

this turns from great to dreamy 24s in. That vocal and piano lick are just perfect. the sax, footprints. You're a master of building a comic book in my head from sound alone.

This is soooooooo good, and could easily fit right in the Twin Peaks return. I think Angelo would approve! heart

Love this! The footsteps, the sirens, the shuffle, the sax and that slide oh man! Gives that feeling on uneasiness and dark rainy nights. Great track!

Génial.

J'adore l'ambiance, je "vois" une salle plein de fumeurs, film noir, je sais pas trop. Mais super cool. Les brass sont vraiment cool.

Et après le fouet, la sirène va devenir un go to!

very very very badalamenti - nice job!

I like it!  The sax parts work a treat and the percussive element keeps the subtle pace.  Walking pace?  wink
The mood is maintained effectively over the entire song too.  Could almost be a smoky jazz club scene.

I hear ya about time restraints which is why I'm only catching up on comments and listening.  Gah!

oooh lovely swells in the horns. oh that midi sax is hilarious tho. very nice tho, your tracks are a great mix of not taking themselves too seriously but still hitting hard and being awesome! and i also just came from the jazzaria track on real sax so the contrast is real! big_smile

ah man the walking samples at the end heart

excellent work!!! like watching a short movie but it's all happening in my head!!!

Ooooh yais love when those bendy brass come in.  Giving me some Lost Highway vibes as well.  The piano bass is so addictive.  Excellent use of the sfx putting me right in that world.

Yes, nailed the vibe, that sweeping brass sound (?) is so nice and the saxophone.  Another one of your vivid aural pictures, entire story told on this one.

what a vibe!
love the ending too

Thank you! If anything, things are getting busier! I need to take a break at some point.

Thank you for this nice comment! I am glad that the music captured the vibe I was aiming for.

Thank you! It's funny how some samples like sirens can add so much atmosphere to a track. It feels like cheating!

Oui, en fait je crois avoir deja utilize cette sirene dans plus de tracks que le fouet! Ca marche toujours tres bien pour creer une ambiance urbaine de nuit.

Yeah, I am struggling with the time constraints and have not been able to catch up with the community, which is really the main benefit of these years! Thank you for taking the time to listen and commenting!

Thank you for the kind comment! It's very hard to capture an authentic sax sound when programming it. It just lacks the expressiveness you can get with the real thing. Maybe i'll look into some tricks. I could have played with the volume control to get a sense of dynamic air flow, that would have helped already.

Yes, I am happy with the ending, and for some reason with the out of pace guitar, it felt appropriate.
