Sleeping Dragons

By Kedbreak136 on January 21, 2024 1:41 am

An homage to 70s kung-fu movies, to John Woo movies, and to fantastic games like Sleeping Dogs or Sifu. All samples are from splice, and there are a couple of AI generated voice - "you're good. but will you be strong enough?".
I worked a little more on the naturalness of the contrabass, horns, and slap bass with Horatio's feedback - more velocity changes, little tweaks so that it's not fully on the grid. I hope that brings more humanity to the track! smile

Love the rain sounds! And the way it flows from diagetic sounds to musical ones!

Your tracks often feel like little sonic movies.  It's very easy to picture the action taking place in this one.  The funk bass is sweet also.

This is a jam! Love it.

I am unapologetically not strong enough.  Digging how well the sound effects go with the music in this one.  Very intense.

HOLY SMOKES!!! Your SLAP-fu is pretty good!  it's amazing! I'm digging the horns too! I'm honored to be part of influencing this song to slap so hard!

You know one time about a week ago I passed by this guy on the street and he was getting beat up pretty bad, but I just walked by. The next day I saw him again, this time there were two guys beating him up. I didn't call the police or anything, just went by. The next day I saw him again as he was in the neighborhood, this time FOUR guys were beating him up. I thought about doing something but still, I did nothing. Only on the fourth day when there were 8 guys beating this poor dude up in the same location I decided to not walk by and do something about it. And man did the nine of us beat him up that time!

Thanks for the song, I'll show it to the guy if I ever see him again!

these coppers messed with the wrong scalie
Love your cinematic stuff, always so wild

Ah yais that signature_kedbreak_drum_zound!  Love the pace of the drums with the bass.  You had me air-slappin along like I was spoonman.  *puts on protective gear and assumes crane kick position*

Love the percussion, sirens and fight scene vibe!

Rolling drums and epic horns! I don't want to spoil anything but... I think you definitely woke up the dragons yikes

Always a party of samples making it a fun romp.  Great drum, percussion and bass work.  The bass is programmed yeah?  I think it's pretty difficult to pull off legit sounding programmed funk bass unless you're going for that Seinfeld sound.  Haha.  I think the programmed bass works for your tracks though as there's always so much imagination that seems to go into your tracks.  Kind of like a Wes Anderson film where suspension of disbelief is really encouraged and you'll be better for it.  smile

It’s a 90min movie condensed in a song! Woooaaa the final gong is boooom!
Great job and slap

The fu is strong with this one! I'd do some stylized dance fighting to this for sure. Great way to mix it up with scenes to make it more like a story. The slap bass returns! The scene with horns is my fave. The sirens freaked out my dog little, so now we're going on a walk to look for a good fight! Nice work again!

A lot of great things going on here! I love the variety of basslines, particularlly the one at 2:11 kind of gives me a Cowboy Bebop kind of vibe but I also love the slap bass just before that section.

This track kicks ass with style.

You are sending out Bruce Lee energy. Love this bass part around 1:50. A legendary score the whole track.

HA that SLAP is infectious, should've called it 'SLAPPING Dragons!' big_smile
Riveting energetic rush!

the beginning of the "you're good" sample is a little bassy on my speakers.  and then the horns sound good but I want a little more reverb to "place them" realistically in the musical space.  my only notes!  everything else is perfect!

shoutout to Horatio's excellent feedback.

I have Sleeping Dragons but have yet to play it!  It looks so cool.

ROTFL I actually thought this was a real story when you started.  WOW

Super-intense musical movie!

This song slaps

So fun, definitely nailed the theme, so many great samples and yes that bass sounds great, another great job at telling a story through the music, yours is the only music where the music came first then they decided to make a movie.

FIGHT!

This is so crisp and adventurous I don't know where to start, it's simply great!

Action packed! A fun movie genre to play around with.  Nice use of samples and Asian instruments.
