Sandwalking the line

By Kedbreak136 on April 7, 2024 11:54 am

The title is based on how this track reminds me of walking at the edge of the precipice, and the sand part is just because I finally watched Dune this week and it seemed appropriate to call it out.

Arps, cyberpunk beats, more arps, servo motor samples, some leads, and cello lines - that's a track closer to what my standard stuff. It's ok to sometimes go back to the basics. smile

Cool arps for sure.  Haven't seen the second Dune yet, but the first one was well done and pretty true to the first half of the book.  I can hear some sand storms brewing up here.  Nice unexpected transition as well.

Sound selection is wild and amazing as always. Love the servos, love the percussion variety. And when we drop out to flamenco land, so rad.

This is like 3 tracks combined! I like the journey, this was clearly a good run for you. Good job!

when the classical guitar kicks in though...

A very surprising journey in all directions. Epic.

Instant stank face ┏( >_<)┛. Love the bass, and the arps through out...

Oh man, lots of cool stuff going on here.  Big fan on the part ~2:10.

Kedbreak tracks are always "don't be surprised if something crazy happens" but i'll tell you, I was genuinely shocked by 2:10!

Reading above and just waiting for what happens at 2:10 ... oh yes that is a nice surprise and change, I would say my fav part is the breakdown with the servo motors at the start, another great track.

When I read the title, I thought of Johnny Cash Walk the Line, made more Duney, haha. What would that even be.
This is some good classic Kedbreak. I can see the Fremen dancing to this, and they don't seem to ever dance, but with this playing they have to. Haha, yes, the flamenco esque bust in at 2:10, that's what I'm talking about! Great one!

Love the sound of that main arp that comes in early.  Pounding driving rhythm that paces the track nicely.  Oooh the solo guitar midway thru is awesome and was a nice surprise.  Oh yais those sparkly arps are extra sweet especially in their panning.  Outro arp finishes it off!  Well done

The second part is great! They did compress the second book events into a few months and they took some liberties with the book but overall I thought they did a wonderful job. Thank you for listening!

Servos to flamenco land, the big stretch of weekly beats! Thank you for your comment!

Thank you! Yes indeed, it does sound a bit like 3 tracks and it actually felt a bit like that when making it as well. It's like having triple serving for weekly beats.

Thank you! This part felt like an accident, but it worked in the end.

Oh that gif is from the Cryo's version of Dune, when you make the mistake of venturing walking in the desert. What a beautiful game, and what a beautiful soundtrack!

I must say I stole the servo idea from Ministry's Thieves but they alway sound sooo good and really cut through a mix in a weird and evocative way.

They can dance, but they cannot do it in a simple beat, else you get the big worm coming for a feast. Maybe if it's 27/8 like March of the Pigs, then you're safe?

If the Butlerian Jihad had a theme song, this may well be it.
