Phonecalls

By Kedbreak136 on August 4, 2024 1:47 am

I took a few days off, turned my work notifications off, and enjoyed time in family and played some video games. I needed that pause.

This track is inspired by playing Hotline Miami, and also by Lost Highway by David Lynch, and by all those drives at 4am in the morning, when time lapses and consciousness dissolves.

Reading your description I was expecting something to relax and wind down to, not exactly the music I was imagining to let the consciousness dissolve.
Great track for speeding down the highway thou! Loved it!

necks out for adventure!!

Ahhh, beautiful combination of influences! Hotline Miami + Lost Highway, and I definitely hear it. That shredding synth at 2:00 sounds so sick.

Definitely got the Hotline Miami vibes, you nailed that.

I've never played Hotline Miami, so I can't comment on that, but I do get some Lynchian vibes and a strong visual sense of speeding down a highway in the dark while at various times the police try to pursue in vain.  Really great energy on this one.

Public transit vibes!!!!!!!!!! excellent

The sec i heard the synthbass I knew to buckle up.  Foot on the pedal when those drums kick in.  Turbo engaged when those frenzied arps slide into place.  Excellent tension too when the beat drops out.  Video games are always a good escape for me too.  Love the pace of this throughout.  \m/

This track powers with a certain brutality. I always asked myself, where you take the energy for those tracks from. This has good cinematic qualities for a futuristic thriller genre movie.

Police sirens, and phone call rings, and sinister basslines, and breakneck breakbeats, and disturbing arps... that's *one* way to achieve a state of relaxation big_smile

Great movement in the track, though. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I’m with Tone Matrix, I was invested from the first bassline. What I wasn’t expecting was an epic adventure this took me on, that kept taking me to new places. Hard driving and epic, and those samples were just the perfect icing.

Anxiety: the theme song.

Glad you could enjoy time with the family and unwind, so much to unravel on this one, love how it just keeps building, feels like you are in a video game progressing through the levels, fav section is at 2:13 as the buzz synth keeps building then the chopped vocals and that little quiet before things get going again.

Glad you enjoyed some time off, sounds like from past posts your work can be a lot. This was a fun trip. All the little sound bits add some much. This break is huge, makes me move. I feel like this whole things is just propelling us forward. HOLD ON TIGHT. I want to put this on loop when I ride my ebike (my preferred mode of city travel).

Ah yeah that was not meant to be relaxing, but actually weirdly anxiety inducing, like the game Hotline Miami! Thank you for the nice comment!

Watch out for the neck at sharp turns!

Thank you, I am glad that the influences did work. Such a fan of both soundtracks!

Great, thank you! I love the weird disgusting and totally off vibe of the game Hotline Miami, I'm glad that I was able to somewhat capture it.

Thank you! The samples were definitely inspired by the Lost Highway movie. Hotline Miami is quite a disturbing experience about violence in video games, and the soundtrack is just perfectly appropriate.

Ah yes, the inferno of public highways jammed with traffic!

Some video games are really great, especially when they resonate with some dark aspects of us and help us get rid of that in a healthy way. I am glad you enjoyed the track!

Thank you very much! I find music to be a really good conduit for darker emotions. I have had a lot of stress and anxieties in the recent month, I am glad I have weekly beats to process them in a healthy way. Thank you for your always kind comments.

Thank you very much! I am glad that bassline was able to propulse the track through all these different alleys.

Absolutely - i think there is something especially in the arps that triggers anxiety in me. Not sure why.

Thank you! That buzz synth (the speedbike escape synth from Flex) is one of my favorite patches. It feels like a weird electric animal that you never really get under control and might jump to another screechy frequency at any point. In a good way.

haha ebike safely though! Glad you enjoyed the track and thank you for the comment! smile

Love that freaking synth break in the middle and how one tone is really thrown around the stereo field.  After that, it really settles into a good groove.  A bunch of energy here.

love the image and the HM references

wait is liam neeson the person on the phone?!?!?!?!?

after Taken, he hired people to do the killing and that became Hotline Miami?

CRAZY
