Bat Country

By Kedbreak136 on April 14, 2024 5:04 am

A little speedtrash on a Sunday morning. The track went where it wanted to go. And it sounds like it wanted to go to Bat Country. So to Bat Country it went.

* no toad was hurt during the recording of this track

I really like that opening! This one has a nice groove and the bass lines sound really nice. I really like in the second half where it picks up volume and energy! Super cool sounding. I also like what sounds almost like snoring at the end there. Nice job!

Pretty rad track this week, makes me think of Chris Schlarb meets Ian Stocker (Dropsy and Escape Goat respectively, pardon my VGM OST references haha.) Second half of the track is super fun and upbeat.

Damn, that's one hectic trip. Would love to peer over your shoulder for the making of a track like this.

Tell me the name of those sleeping pills. They seem to work in a paradox way. Good job this week again.

We can't stop here, though I'd like to, they got cool music here.

I'm hearing the term "speedtrash" used here every now and again, but not a single track was really "trash" to me. But I was also informed this is not "thrash", so I shouldn't expect fast tempos. So, what gives? What is "speedtrash" really? Is it like a "humblebrag"? big_smile

Hm, that pill wasn't a sleeping pill, was it?! That second part is definitely a surprise.

hell yeah BAT COUNTRY
we can't stop here!

Awesome stuff.  I like how it sounds like we're just entering bat country at first but then we get deeper into it as the track goes on and around the 1:35 mark we're totally surrounded by bats.

You had me at bat country.  The intro really pulls you in and then I feel like it's a retro game land sandpit adventure.  Great end!

that is the exact scene that came to my ming when I heard "bat country"

I love how crazy this gets at 2:00 and then mellows out with the reversed pads and then finishes with toads.

Always worth paying attention to any track kedbreak says is speedtrash—it usually translates to "buckle in, this is going to rule"

Oh man, I love the sound design of the synth that comes in around 1:02, lot of really interesting movement in it.  Great use of vocal samples too, I do love a quirky old movie sample.  I also really like the use of rhythm in the base voices after the transition at 1:34, created a really solid sense of cohesion with the A part, even though it is so different from the other parts, which pulled everything together is to what felt like one piece.  Fun track.

Love the grittiness of those synth pads.  As always solid synth bass that flows with the drums so well.  You must have been spitting fx from your fingers for this one smile  The synth transitions were firing on all cylinders at the 2min mark.  I think a lightsaber just flew by my ear! awesome work!

Always such an adventurous journey to find in your tracks! Love it!

Thank you very much! The sound at the end actually is a foley recording of a toad. It is snoring. Or maybe calling its toad friends for a party, who knows. Thank you for listening!

Thank you very much for your kind comment!

I happen to have a recording of me in action!

Yep, someone mixed the sleeping pills with the other pills. Well, that was quite an adventure.

Speedtrash - when it's late in the week, don't have a clue what track to make, and start tossing random samples and bass lines into your DAW. And the worst thing is that sometimes it even sounds better than when you meticulously plan a laborious track.

The reverse pads are actually a piano where i recorded the melody inverted, and then reverted the audio to make it align with the rest of the instruments. The toads are standard toads but I wonder now what they would sound like if I reverted them. Only way to find out...

Thank you, it's great that you enjoyed it. Quotes from old (creative commons) movies are just perfect, especially when taken totally out of context and using them to mean something entirely different. smile

Thank you very much! smile

Bat Country? But I thought the Batman has no jurisdictions. tongue
Dark Knight joke aside, I like the kaleidoscopic exploration of eerie metallic timbres you've got going on here.

I came to Bat Country for the cuisine, I stayed for the really cool club playing this music. The dancers were out of this world. You may say I went bat shit crazy, but that's just the way of things in Bat Country

love that squeaky sax sound at the end

I HOPE YOU LIKE NOTIFICATIONS

great job, sorry i was so late, keep up the good work!

i'd love to hear more dance music, more scary soundscapes, and more sing-song melody this year!  really cool what your crazy brain comes up with.

also all the koto stuff has been really on point

wait, no chainsaws yet this year???  wow!
