happy 75th to my Dad!

› lyrics

i was working on a bit of a dirge early in the week (was stoked when i heard Napear's week 27 track and saw that it was in the same key as the song i had started, and was even more stoked when he said he was open to me incorporating his track into the thing i was working on!), but it was kind of an intense work week and i had some other mixing projects so yeah... i decided to put off the dirge till i had more time and mental capacity to pull it together. i also remembered that my Dad had a birthday coming up so i thought it might be nice to write a little ditty for him. i was thinking it would be a simple acoustic song, but.... yeah i went a little overboard. couldn't help myself!

hoping to get to the dirge for week 29. it's been such a heavy week though, so i'm kinda glad i had something a little lighter to focus on. take care of yourselves, and as always thanks so much for listening.

Happy birthday to a very lucky dad! This is just wonderful. I feel like your dad's character really comes through, the music, the lyrics, the mood, everything. Beautiful. heart to you and your daddy!

Awesome pics!  Such a feel good song.  The electric guitar sounds great in the mix.  Love the vocal harmonies throughout.  The lyrics about the cafe heart  Happy Birthday to your Dad and looking forward to next week.

Beautiful songwriting as always. Hope your dad had a wonderful birthday! big_smile

I love this chord progression! The mild vocals and song arrangement are also great!

Great tribute, love the mix on this one.

What a wonderful tribute to your dad.  The song has a happy feel good vibe and your voice is in excellent form on this one.

Happy birthday to your dad. He sounds like a nice fellow.

thanks, dewdrops! that was electric guitar on those instrumental breaks. i was playing double stops and now that i listen to it it does sound like epiano! appreciate you listening

hope the week is going well for all y'all

The gentle vocals and the colorful instrumentation made this song a beautiful tribute to your dad. Best wishes from me too.
The pictures are so cool.  They remind me of the times, when the world seemed to be a lovely place to enjoy a childhood.

love the rhythmic vocals in the intro. Song writing on point as usual. Lyrics makes me think of my dad too. Some of the lyrics are very close to how my father was before work or getting ready for church etc.

What a beautiful song, have you played it for your dad?  Another one that will be stuck in my head, I’ll be repeating or humming those lyrics.

Easy, breezy, and playfully delightful song. What a great tribute to your Dad on his birthday. Such a "feel good" gift that will last forever.  Nicely done.
