friday party

By jwh on January 7, 2024 9:09 pm

2024, LFG

Clydesdale (Century Guitars)—Boss OC-5—GT-500 boost—Boss DD-6—Music Man HD130 (w/ reverb & trem)
low octave—Heather Brown Blessed Mother—DI

i've been playing around w/ some m/s mic setups & this was one run through, with the low tones coming from the OC-5 which went direct. i overdubbed 2 vocal tracks and then mixed/ finalized in Reaper.
this guitar was an early xmas present and i love it so much.
ok!

stacking up the locks
grab my pretty socks
head up to dowagiac

i will sleep in the car
till we know who we are
till we know that we're all on the lam

ooh it's another friday party oh yeah

YOOOOOOO LOOK WHO IT FREAKING IS!!!!

this is awesome!  welcome welcome welcome!  ready for so many em/jwh collabs

Exquisite! And great to see yinz all here! Beautiful harmonies, and it's always wonderful to hear the jwh and em voices together! I love the sound of the Clydesdale here, too--just absolutely great stuff! Let's show this year what's up!

welcome to wb smile love the slow, sparse buildup and the really intentional dynamics - got me melting into the floor when the distortion finally starts ripping through under the vocals :')

All right! Looking forward to more friday parties w/y'all. Great sounds, cozy indeed. Thank you

This is awesome! Such a cool vibe. I think everyone else already hit on this hard, but the high vocal harmony really sends this through the roof. It's that last piece of that slow buildup that gets added in, and it just takes it over the top. This is WB, so we do our parties on Sunday K? Looking forward to hearing more from you this year. Also, that guitar looks and sounds beautiful.

Welcome to Weekly Beats!  Glad you decided to jump in and join the fun/insanity.  Guitars sounded great on this and loved when the vocals came in.  The whole thing gave me a nice dreamy feeling.

The guitar sounds great.  Really enjoy those lil extra driven parts that come out intermittently from the guitar.  The vocal harmony is extra calming and those higher harmonies really expand the sound.  Welcome to da wb!

always happy to have you, homie heart heart heart

JOSH, Welcome! big_smile
I love the grimey grit over the guitar, how it plays through the delays so dreamy, makes for the perfect setup, and then the duo vocals are the icing! Excited to hear what you bless us with this year heart

Hey, welcome! glad to have you here. I have heard you on emily's songs last year! I like this song. Awesome guitar tone and playing, it wraps me up in a warm hug. I could just listen to solo guitar for a while, but the vocals come in and make so much richer. Cool to hear lyrics about a Friday party on a mellower tune, dig that. I gotta go lookup dowagiac now. And get my pretty socks.

This has to be the most mellow Friday party ever, and I love it.
Also won't say no to more Emily, and more guitar (also don't mind a collab at some point).

thank you, Friend! doubt i would be here without you. you know what - i've realized that if i pitch the track down ~6%, record a harmony, then pitch it back up... i kinda sound like emily! she's even told me that, ha! that was me doing the high part on this one  big_smile

dang, rdomain got in the Way Back Machine today! thanks so much for coming back to check this out for for your nice words.
it's kinda wild to revisit these tracks from the beginning of the year.

and yeah, MM amps foreverrrrr

That's one of the great things about WB; revisiting the songs you create through the year because they're created so quickly, you can kind of forget you wrote them!  A very nice surprise.
