dream suite

By jwh on May 26, 2024 11:57 pm

i recorded this as a gift for my kiddos who both have birthdays this month. i used to play this guitar figure over and over when they were little to help them get to sleep. i always found it comforting to play, but for some reason i never recorded it.
they are not so little anymore!
*that's little me in the super 80's thumbnail image.  smile

hope y'all have a great week. thanks for all the inspiration.

lovely and super cozy.
also, a weird comment: from this pic and last week's, we kinda looked alike as kids. or at least had the same haircut. must've been a popular look in the 80s.

soothing guitar sound that hits so nicely from the star.  The ghost echo sounds loverly.  z0mg I had the exact same sheets!  I was looking online recently to see if they had them somewhere because mine were long ago retired.  Cuz I def could go for that cozy feeling again.  Oof the outro was a nice touch.  Like we just panned out the window and up to a view of the m-o-o-n.  smile

I'm just gonna say: what wonderfully lucky kids. Wish someone played so beautifully to put me to sleep!

I am completely enamoured by the immersive swirly cloud of guitar and beauty you've created here, it's just lovely.

That was super soothing and I can see how it would be really nice to fall asleep to.  I definitely calmed me down while I was listening, which was very appreciated.  I kind of needed that.

Great track, I'm sure the kiddos will cherish the recording.  Side note... that looks like the bedroom of a kid who had at least on M.A.S.K. vehicle.  And, guessing... Condor (the motorcycle that turned into a helicopter) or Thunder Hawk (the T-Bird with butterfly doors that made it a jet somehow) where either in the collection... or deeply coveted... am I close?

Thank you for the insider background information of this track. The music feels safe and secure and gentle. The perfect narcotic for sweet dreams. And your picture shows the who is who of my childhood.  It made me smile.

This is just beautiful. So intimate, emotional and vulnerable. Immense amounts of soul. It feels like it's full of nostalgia, but not at all in a sad way. I'm happy to hear you finally got this recorded, such a fantastic gift to your children. Thank you so much for sharing such an intimate piece with us ❤️❤️❤️

an exquisite lullaby heart

Tranquil and sweet smile I have fond memories of hearing my dad play guitar from down the hall, more of an "accidental" lullaby than this one, so I'm sure the memories are significant. Thanks for sharing.

that's such a nice memory, thank you. it's incredible how music adds color and shared experience to our lives.

all my kids are grown and out of the house now, this brings back those moments so clearly thanks for that!

Thanks for putting me to bed tonight. Lucky kids indeed!

❤️

This is great! And what a great idea, I may have to try playing for my son to see if that helps him go to sleep!

this is so relaxing, and pls tell your kids how lucky they are, for me.

I was too young to remember this clearly, but when I was a child I had a terrible fever and my father played guitar to me to help calm me through the worst of it.  These are things your kids will remember, like deep down remember.  You wrote a really lovely piece of music.

That's beautiful. heart love these personal everyday works that are created just in life, for other purposes than recording or publishing. But they're worth publishing too.. Makes me think I should record some lullabies I make up in the moment and sing for my child every night. But they change every evening depending on his requests,so it would simply have to be one version that is recorded. (as is your melody too, i suppose)

oh you totally should! i bet he would enjoy hearing them as he gets older  smile
and thank you for listening

Very gentle and sweet. Lucky kiddos. I am jealous.  My dad never played guitar to help me sleep tongue

Side note, I think I had a similar setup as the picture. Couldn't get enought of ET and starwars when I was a kid. Recently revisted ET and that movie still holds up.

A really beautiful thing you've made here, truly.

thank you! and yeah, ET really does hold up. i was just talking to someone recently about how upsetting and disturbing those parts are when he gets sick. like, burned in my brain/ heart. there's such a great arc and it is of course beautifully shot. and the music!

thank you, Beefpounder!!  heart

A very beautiful moment in time. I also like how nicely you reference the TaoTao Panda theme tune… has a very soothing athmosphere, somehow japanese, but americana at the same time. Great stuff!

Lovely soothing dream suite. I could drift to this for many moments. So cool you recorded it, and held on to it all these years! Did you kids end up playing music at all? Maybe they will play this some day too. I remember little tunes I hummed to the kiddos when they were little. Now my son plays the sax at night, and it doesn't exactly put me to sleep, but I enjoy it so much. Ah the joys of it all.

i love how this track sounds, beautiful mix and vibe. favorited
