Waiting for my Car

By jegasus on March 15, 2026 11:52 pm

Alright! Another week in the bag!
Is this just an 8 bar loop where at every round a new instrument comes in? Why yes it is.
And does it get way too crowded in the end because all instruments are clashing? Most certainly.
Do I still like it? You bet I do!

This week I once again didn't have all that much time to sit down and make music, but I did have a couple of hours where I was waiting for my vehicle to be serviced, so I brought my trusty dusty M8 and got to work in the waiting rooms.

This is what ultimately came out and, while it's super simple, I still like it! Definitely not my best work, but far, far from my worst, hahahaha...

And folks, I gotta say, thanks for the encouraging words on my submission last week. It's been a long string of "no time, throw something together last minute" weeks, but I'm happy that even in that capacity, I've been able to keep up. Y'all are a fantastic community. Thank you.

Peace!!!!

Do I like it as well, yes I do. Time spent making a song does not determine the enjoyment of listening to or creating a song! It's the beauty of not overthinking things. M8 is a great waiting room friend.

That twangy lead is killer! And I love the layering up to max sounds at the end ... and no it's not too much! I hope the car works and life gives you a bit more time to keep making these awesome songs! wink

This is peak m8!

This makes waiting for a car almost sound like a good time.  I like the buildup at the end.  It doesn't sound too busy to me.

Love how the different melodies sort of twist in and out of each other.  Sounds just right to me!

i'm gonna imagine you brought some bangin bluetooth speakers with you and treated everyone at the mechanics to the creation of this little gem  big_smile

Simple start to a carnival crescendo. Love the bassline, love the pitch slides on the column 3 lead. Plucked works out really nicely to carve out its own space and not crowd out the rest of the track, and the high and wide crystal lead is a lovely way to shift into the final build (plus its shifting of the main melody is fun). I agree with you that the end is a little crowded, but who can resist throwing in some laser noises?

An excellent use of waiting time! Reminds me of what I used to do when I first started making music only this is much better and cohesive. Gotta love a mildly chorused slap bass.
