wake up with new techniques

By Jason Nijjer on January 4, 2026 8:20 pm

Good to be back, hope everyone had a great 2025 and we can all have an even better 2026.  Usually at this time of weekly beats I'm trying to figure out what to do and checking that all the plugins and software is still working, trying to figure out workflows, trying to remember how to route any hardware, ect.  This is the first time that is not the case.  I never stopped weekly beats after 2024, continued to make at least one track a week last year.  Got pretty comfortable with VCV rack, tried to use it in some way on every track I made last year, will probably still use it to some degree on every track this year.  Have some new hardware I picked up over the last few months so hope to incorporate that more this year.

Excited to hear all the great and creative music on weekly beats, hope to hear from many of you from 2024 and find new inspirations from new members in the community.

Will start off the year with familiar sounds and workflow, thanks for listening and hope you enjoy.

Great to see you back for another year, Jason!

Are the scratches real or virtual? I must dust off my "Traktor Scratch" setup I never learnt to master and cut some original samples.

I personally gravitate to Cardinal, which is the all GPL / open source cousin of VCV Rack. Basically the same program with some small differences. Glad to see you into virtual modular.

I'd love to hear your new stuff, my friend smile

This is a perfect start to the year. So clean but gritty at the same time. Great track!

Thank you, first comment of the year, always excited to check out your creations.  Originally I recorded some scratches off the vinyl, but only had the remix version of this track which was very poorly cut.  In the end I scrapped those and stem separated off a you tube video and virtually scratched them.  The scratch on the chopped guitar riff is also virtually scratched.

Love that guitar hook that grooves with the drums instantly.  Gave me some endtroducing_vibes.  Always a fan of your head nodders.  So good to see you back!

Impressive streak you got going. Great to see you back again for another round!

ah yes, new Jason Nijjer tracks! that's great that you kept going through '25.
drums sound so crisp. I'm glad you are back

So clean J! Love how the Melodie’s evolve. Listened to this one loud, got my head bobbing. Great start.

Good to see you in 2026!

I like how your tracks are tasteful. The textures are really delightful - the vinyl sounds adds that little crunch, there is a vintage sound to the bell/synth. That beat is simple but just perfectly groovy. I need to learn these new techniques.

Looking forward to more of your tracks!

A CC0 Hero!  This isn't the last we're going to hear from these techniques

Fiancé is shouting supporting vocals and singing extra melodic lines in the background as it plays

your music techniques got my dance techniques bein like:

Welcome, hello! Was looking forward to hearing your beats! Awesome you kept going. I'm envious. That's the way to go I think, keep the habit going. I'm still trying to get into the groove of things, mostly budgeting in the time. This track flows, dig the techniques sample. I like how it's a subtle flowing

Sounds good, feels good!

Personally, I decided not to pre-plan what hardware/software/music I'm going to be making all through 2026 for weekly beats as so much can change. Moreover, in weeks where I was sick or traveling, being able to submit something felt better than skipping. So I don't want to overdo on the self-imposed limitations given that the weekly pace is already pretty demanding.

congrats on going on in the off year!  good to see you again heart

Happy New Year Jason!!! wishing you well on your creative journey this year!

Welcome back! The opening of this is deliciously moody and very Bohren & Der Club of Gore (I love the little delay squiggles/pitch bends) and then the beat kicks in and we end up somewhere even more awesome... also I can't help but hear "wake up with new techniques" as "wake up with new Techniques"... as in the brand... new vinyl decks from music santa... ok I will stop lol. This was so awesome, what a great start to the year!
