A New Beginning

By Janky Jams on January 3, 2026 2:43 pm

Look, I suck at naming music. I'm great at naming anything else, but music... can't I just label them by date? That would be so much easier! big_smile

Anyway: This track was recorded live in a single take of me playing on my modular synth. Some limiting and compression added after the fact in Ableton. All voices, drums, effects etc. from the modular, mixed in the modular, and recorded as a single stereo track straight from the output into my Zoom recorder.

The patch here was originally made for my live set on Earth Modular Society's New Year's Eve Stream Train on, well, on New Year's Eve yesterday. I did a 20min performance with this then - today I went and tuned/improved the patch a bit more, and made this shorter recording.

Hope you enjoy!

A video recording of this take is available on YouTube:

This is so deep! Bass is deep, synths are wide... everything in its right place. Great work!

Damn... that kick is awesome. Gotta love some modular dance music.  Awesome work.

That's Ohmforce Bohm! Got it relatively recently, and it's awesome :-)

Hell yes. You’ve really nailed something that I think can be particularly hard in these types of setups which is _restraint_. We get these beautiful bursts that you open up more and more over time, we get drum variations, we get transitional risers and such but we never get slammed with anything. We just keep walking along in this beautiful meadow of bleep bloops.

Arrangement is fantastic too. The breakdown around the 5 min mark is like we had to stop to look deeper at something.

Hyped to hear more of this. Inspiring the hell out of me

*hugs*

I wuv you, buddy!
Great track!

Found you here too! Welcome back!

I am jealous of your bohm cuz damn that's a nice deep kick. Love the chird changes that come in with the base and leads around 3-4 mins, really gives the track a push into a moodier place, and then the noise/top perc at 5min! Amazing. And the playout is so chill.

Video was gorgeous too!

That's a great name tbh!
I like the gradual change. It's groovy yet stays interesting. The F chord every now and then is both welcome and a bit too much... But actually once i noticed it i was looking forward to hearing it. I think it comes again around 5:30
I can totally see how this would rock as a 20 min version
Oh and nice mix, I listened on the phone tho but it was good

This is sick! I'm always amazed by what people manage with their modular rigs. Most of the time I just make fart noises, lol.

work pauses! Wow this is funky, love it!

You can name them like that, but that would take away its identity and nullifies its purpose.
And that's just kinda rude.
This name is good though, it's a new beginning.
