Bow Out

By Jackmsimpson on June 18, 2026 9:10 pm

Changing things up - went for a more upbeat, in-your-face simple rock tune. big guitar sounds, power chords and some punchy drums. nothing too flash.

Finding some new plug in chains and trying some different things out - I'm enjoying the use of saturation to things... trying to get balances right, but enjoying the process.

Nothing too complicated in terms of structure or songwriting... I do like a 'big finish' though!

Have a great week! Thanks for Listening!

Lyrics:
Turning up to try to turn it around
Set it all up just to knock it down
Pulling you back just to push you away
Wasting your time with the thoughts you save

I've been running
So long that ive lost count
I've tried to make my peace
I've tried to bow out

Thinking out loud and then taking it back
Spilling a lie and stating its fact
Calling you up just to put the phone down
Coming up for air, but still you drown

I've been running
So long that ive lost count
I've tried to make my peace
I've tried to bow out

Awesome! This is some radio ready rock. Love the harmonies in the chorus, and the guitar is big and bold. Vocals are sitting in the mix perfectly, and the mix itself just crackles. Listened like three times in a row. Favorited!

Unsolicited opinion incoming:

I wanted…no, NEEDED…a resolution to the chorus after the ending bridge….feels a little abrupt, and left me hanging (which may well have been the intent!) But I wanted that hook and those harmonies one last time smile Structurally, I could see cutting the end bridge in half, going quiet for the tiniest bit, and then punching me in the face with the chorus at the end.

But man, this track is so good…one of my favorites so far. Fantastic work!

Thanks man! Always look forward to see what you make of each week's offering haha!

I'll be honest, I agree with you with the 'unfinished' feeling the song has, and I'd like to try and come up with an artistic reason behind it, but truth is, I kinda got fed up with this tune, and by the time I had some ideas with what to do with it, i was put of time. It might be one I revisit outside of WB!

Sounding awesome! Solid alt rock tune with a clear and punchy mix. I feel Paislyfrogs comments about the final chorus resolution, though the harmonising guitar leads at the end do still offer a nice climax to lead out the song. I like it either way!
This one could also make for a neat template for future tracks. Awesome work!

damn, those guitars sound killer!
