Rough Acid Jam 2026-06-17

I'm feeling the time crunch again this week, but I had productive jam session pairing the Roland T-8 with the Bastl Kastle 2 FX Wizard and paired it with some extra drum parts in the DAW since most of the T-8 drums were drown out (but still present in the mix for background flair.) The kick part is all T-8 through the Wizard.

I could go on a whole rant about the shortcomings of the T-8 (comically tiny knobs, limited selection of drums, the 303 voice sounds "digital" to me, you can only save patterns -- not presets) but it's hard to beat the sheer convenience of having a tiny 303 + drum kit with a built-in battery. It's easy to make room for it in a tiny desk setup and so I often find myself trying it out with different effects units. If you haven't seen the Mylarmelodies video where he pairs the [T-8 with the Boss ODB-3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOQl-2sSugs), well, I recommend it.

The T-8 is also just so freakin easy to use. I'd wanted to do a Volca Drum + Nubass jam (and maybe will get to that yet) but I find that there's quite a bit of fiddling to get those units sounding the way that I want them to, whereas I have a lot less friction with the T-8. That's probably just personal preference, though -- I think I've also had more hands-on time with Roland stuff than the Volcas.

Aaaanywhoo, enjoy the jam.

Yeah, the T-8 is a total beast!

Some serious squelch going on there.
