Blur

Taken a demo and spruced it up this week. This is a song I am quite proud of. Channeling my inner Phoebe Bridgers with some big ambient guitar tones. Vocals are a little rougher than usual - I wanted to avoid loads of editing on them as I didn't think it fit the vibe of the track - let me know what you think!

Trying out the Safari Plugins - I quite like them, and will continue to explore!

Guitars are in standard tuning - 2nd week in a row for a while!

Let me know what you think!

Lyrics:
The neon hums like it knows all my secrets

Your jacket still smells like November rain

I watched your shadow blur in the rearview

You took your mixtape,
but left me the pain

I tell myself I’m just dramatic

But your name still breaks the static

So I’m talking to ghosts
in the parking lot

Where we kissed and forgot what we were

You said love was a kind of fever

I said, "Maybe I prefer the blur"

I said, "Maybe I prefer the blur"

The coffee's cold, I drink it anyway

Stained napkins with half-written poems

You wrote “forever” on my wrist in sharpie

But it washed off in the rain on the way home

I dream in grayscale memories

You fade like old movie screens

So I’m talking to ghosts
in the parking lot

Where we kissed and forgot what we were

You said love was a kind of fever

I said, "Maybe I prefer the blur"

I said, "Maybe I prefer the blur"

The silence is loud
where you used to laugh

I count headlights like
stars on a map

You’re somewhere warm,
I’m stuck in the Past

SO I’m talking to ghosts
in the parking lot

Where we kissed and forgot what we were

You said love was a kind of fever

I said, "Maybe I prefer the blur"

I said, "Maybe I prefer the blur"

This is a great song! Love the guitar. I think the vocals sound great and fit with the rest of the song. Nice work!

Great song! Really like that it captures the long young love feel, but the sonic landscape feels a bit more grown up. Can’t tell if you have a piano mixed in there or not - sounds like it, but when I listened closer, it was guitar LOL sounds great either way!

Great lyrics as per usual, but oh damn that “sharpie” couplet is some good writing. First heard it and thought, “wait, that isn’t how that works!”…and then I realized, “….oh. Yeah.” Something that was supposed to be permanent but didn’t work out that way. Clever, I keep thinking about  that line!

There is a piano buried in the mix there - its low and subtle, but I think its adding something - you can hear it at the end in the fade out!

Thanks again for the positive feedback!
