Through Space

On Monday I made a totally different song using arpeggios and drums and I was trying really hard to make it both mechanically sound and enjoyable to listen to. Halfway through putting it together, I decided to stop and procrastinated until Friday, because my heart just wasn't in it. I'm not interested in mechanically sound music, I'm interested in weird music that feels deeply human.
So I made a 20 minute jam using the MicroKorg, pedals, Volca Drum, Stylophone CPM-DS2, and Sonicware Liven Ambient 0 that I've been using for the past few songs. I set the Volca Drum to play a single beat once every few seconds, and ran it through the delay pedal on the DS2. I then used an oscillator on the DS2 to play a steady bass beat that I panned from left to right in post. I played a little ditty with the MicroKorg through the effects pedals, and played another one with the Ambient 0, and in post I overlayed them and used keyframes to help them play off eachother.
For the visuals, I combined two internal video feedback loops on my Roland Edirol V-8, and ran one loop through my DPS-220 Time Base Corrector that has brightness, color, and hue controls, and the other feedback loop through my new Videonics Video Equalizer. It has some issues with some of the functionality, but I found that I can still use it to affect colors, sharpness, and brightness with the feedback loops, and I honestly kinda love it. Messing around with it this week is a large reason why I procrastinated that other song. Also like, cleaning out my old house, finishing the move, and setting up my new office (and just about nothing else in the house yet) really distracted me too.
Anyway, I edited a few different portions of an extended visual experimentation session together into a little music visualiser, and I'm honestly pretty happy with the results. Hope you like it too!
