I love the mysterious jazz chords, lots of nice instrumental layering here and I'm a fan of the horn melodies.

Gorgeous. heart

Sort of cheated with the Sax to save on time, might retry it again later. But the vibes turned out really nice, and getting closer to a good piano.

Yoshi is napping!

Super chill vibes and nice progression! I like that you gave in to the cheezy midi type sax. Also awesome little phrases that go in the distant background. I like that about nintendo music and you totally channeled it here!

Awesome that you're sharing the source, altho I still haven't gone around to checking it out.

I would like to dink a nice coctail to this and watch the sun go down in Galapagos.

Definite video game interlude vibes cool

Look at those crazy lizards just chillin to that vibraphone and digital saxophones.  I'm green with envy!

All the instruments are hand made. I think I can improve it once I understand the nuances of the sax better, but it's not bad for a quicky.

Sounds perfect!

Lol!

I really really love the panning on this.  Sounds awesome on my speakers.  I can just visualize this band rocking out at a bar.  The Nintendo DS video game had some really awesome lounge/jazz music on the soundtrack and this fits perfectly

I'm really impressed with the "brush drum kit" you achieved!  Great job getting that metal sound!!

Oh so chill. Nice work man smile

Chill lounge music. The arp is really what brings the atmosphere, along with the contrabass. I am listening to this track while chilling at a cafe - perfect soundtrack.

You totally nailed the vibe! No puns intended! Also, I think a NDS noir game should be directed by David Lynch, am I right?

Nice!

What a smoky (pixelated) vibe this is! How does the sleigh-bell type percussion sound work?  (I don't use FL Studio, but maybe should install it just to study your work.)

*oops, I forgot to say The Nintendo DS game: Hotel Dusk

It wasn't as hard to make as I thought it would be, I made it for last xmas.
What I did was analyze a single sleigh bell sound to figure out what the harmonic overtones were. There were only a few of them, so I didn't need to do any frequency modulation. I used 5 operators for the partials (the frequency ratios were 10, 23, 26.7, 35, 41). I also added a smidge of random to the frequency so each bell would be slightly different. The 6th operator was just white noise. I then routed the first 5 operators to a filter bank for a high pass filter, but that isn't very important, I wanted to use the volume envelope so all of the operators could share the same one. I created a quiet section for the attack, then for the decay created an envelope that looks like a bounce (a hit that gets quieter and faster with each succession). I did a similar thing with the noise. So now it sounds like a single ball in a bell bouncing to a stop. Then I cranked Sytrus's unison to the max, making sure to turn up the envelope variation. With this on, it will trigger 9 voices of the patch with slight stereo and pitch difference, but more importantly, different attack and decay times, and because I added a blank attack, this time period will be stretched randomly, and they will all trigger at different times. They will also have different bounce speeds. Because there is a bit of delay from key press to when the majority of the bells ring out, I offset the track latency so that the bells are triggered a little bit before the downbeat and sounds on time.
Anyhoo, hope that explains it! I will probably use this same technique for a tambourine sound which I need, I probably could control the unison envelope offset for different types of hits.
If you want to check it out, my files will open in a free demo version of Fl Studio.
