You Got a Minute

Choppity chop chop, everything is chopped.

This week is all about mangling samples until they sound like different songs.  Lyrics, drums, it doesn't matter―what does matter is that even lame samples can be interesting if you use enough RET, STA, SLI, and PLA. tongue

@noggin's Sixam track from last week impressed me with some great strings that turned out to be M8's wavsynth, so there's also some wavsynth pretending to be other things.

(Also: I don't know if it was like this for anyone else, but it was surprisingly hard to put something together this week.  Hoping that's not representative of the rest of Q2's difficulty level.)

100% made and mixed on a Dirtywave M8 Tracker.

You nailed it. You introduce new concepts into this just at the right time to keep things moving along at a comfortable pace.

This is awesome! I like the frantic nature of it. I was just listening to Lamb's Fear of Fours album the other week and the intro to this track gives me some of those same vibes. It gets really grooving at the end there. I like the variety of samples as well, I'll definitely have to listen to it a few more times to really pick them all out. Nice work!

Top notch, enjoyed this a lot!

This is badass, love the flow of the whole thing, wonderful job w/ the bass keeping everything together perfectly. Thumbs up.

Really fun energy on this and great usage of the samples.  I think it's just inevitable over the course of 52 weeks that some weeks will just feel kind of "off," but sometimes really interesting stuff occurs during those less inspired weeks.

Very cool. Favorited.

You really got control over the M8. What a cool track.

Aye this is sweet. WB is tough! Don't give up!

love the vibe this has - listening multiple times and each time i notice a new layer or detail.   sometimes the best music is the stuff that doesn't come out easy but you don't give up on.  well done!

The results speak for themselves! Sounds really seamless if it really is just a bunch of a spliced together samples to make a quick tune. I don't necessarily think Q2 will be any more difficult than any other quarter throughout the year, just that we might all be collectively catching a breath. I was worn out by week 5 personally haha. Some weeks I put in quite a bit of effort, others I just try to phone it in the day of.

Any sample can be anything if you cut it small enough.

Heck yeah! Fun track!
