After last week's use of Korg Gadget as sort of an emergency solution, I wanted to dabble some more in it. It's a very nice way to make music portably while retaining one of the big appeals of working with hardware synths, namely the various UI designs and feature quirks that set each instrument apart.

I hope to get more fluid in it eventually, and perhaps pair it with some physical knobs to make it easier to animate things.

Nice fat bassline! the title made me think of a video game character that would have this tune as their theme smile

really cool and kinda humorous! solid drums! to go of course with the kickass bass

Spicy and tasty. What platform are you doing this on?

Thank you both! I agree with your thought about it. It ended up sounding like some sort of scheme theme, but instead of asking what’s cooking, the question became who’s cooking, and the answer gave itself.

Thank you! I made it on the iPad, using the pencil which makes the process a lot more enjoyable (I’m not too fond of touch controls).

I figured as much. We use the one on the Nintendo Switch, it's real nice.

Heavy tune! Sounds like a boss level where you have to beat the chef by not overcooking the mushroom risotto.

I love the design of the gadgets themselves -- KORG's streamlining the interface for domain-specific synths w/ mostly minimal controls is kind of great (I bought the full thing for VSTs after trying on the Switch). The engines are really good, so they're also fun to randomize. smile

Chonky groove -- something tells me this chef is also cooking some books. Really love how the lead shifts the mood -- excellent writing like always! heart

Groovy rhythm and solid melodic hook smile. Those additional layers at 1:23 sound pretty sick, giving the whole thing a solid dark vibe.

Oh man, that round bass is so pleasing the way it's nested into the laid back drumming. The brass is an awesome surprise as it floats in.  The high noodles and squelchy bits harken back to some 80s west coast hip hop sound.

Thank you, your comment paved the direction for the next tune, as it made me think there should be a mushroom garden in the chef’s vicinity.

Thank you! I too believe he’s pretty corrupt. Probably lies about his source of meat supplies and everything.
