I'll think of you as I cough and moan

By horatiuromantic on March 3, 2024 11:57 pm

I am very happy to share this piece! The title is a message I sent to my friend Marcela when I missed her concert last Friday because I got sick. I thought it was so funny that I had to write a song with it, and here it is. Now I dedicate the song to her. Hope you enjoy it!

Solid, love those chords, that reverb, the soloing is great. It is so good to hear people that actually can play (I can't... at least not like that, not now. wink )

Hope your friend will be thrilled by the track.

Diseased and horny, what a wild ride.

Another instant classic from Horatiu! For me, this is on level with “talking to another man on the phone”. Very cool lyrics, love how they turn kind of spiteful in the second verse, very effective. Also great vocal sound with the doubling, especially when the “back” voice goes high but is still kind of “talking”, works great!

sickly bluesy! I really like the effects you have used on the piano and how you have played with the harmony. Also I really like the song idea and how you could translate that real life situation into a feeling and then a song. Nice job! like always your playing is awesome my friend

This was „stark“. I adore your epianosound.

Oh wow - this is super wild.  Some serious chops in there offfft.  Love when it finally hits the vocals.  The chordal moves are absolutely on point.  What electric piano is this?

hot piano work! love the theme as well

love that grimey electric piano and the ambiguous chordal movement. like i'm not quite sure how to feel when listening - nice not to always have things spelled out.
hope YOU are feeling better

I like the careless vibe, and I mean that in the best way. wink feels very playful the way the chords flow and the singing is kind of done in a laid back way. Sometimes it's a bit hard to hear the lyrics, so maybe the volume could be raised a bit, particularly when there's many other insturments. On the other hand, this mix fits the laidback vibe.

I am digging those angular piano lines. That's my jazz. Inspired and eccentric, with the right of spicy melodies to grab the wrist and then dive into the deep end of the free jazz pool where 2+2=5.

The nasty and disgusting worked in my opinion!

Love that dissonant interlude/transition. Really goes well with the lyrics.

The into hit really hard also

Thanks a lot! That's a wonderful compliment big_smile It's gonna be fun someday to do this live! I don't know how, maybe a doppelganger who can speak-sing like me? A lot of practice? an effect?

I still think it needs a stronger melody to complement the lyrics, or something on the structure to make it more of a classic. Some kind of hook is missing! Not sure it's hooky enough the first line repeated in the end...

Thank you! Me too! I can't get enough of this piano. My friend with a real Rhodes let me try it and tbh this beats it by a lot.

Thanks a lot! This is the e piano from UAD Spark. It can do a lot, and it's super expressive and dynamic, you can be v aggressive or v mellow and everything in between, and switch instantly between the two. I don't know another virtual instrument like it.

YEAH That's the feeling I was going for big_smile Since it's a major minor chord and an ambiguous feeling, also the lyrics are ambiguous, I think this comment represents what I was going for. One day the song will feel one way, another day it will be different big_smile And thanks, it's all for the art!

Thank you v much! I was going for laid back ~ aggressive ~ defeated ~ spiteful or somewhere in between big_smile

Thanks for the note on the vocal sound. I think maybe the mastering could probably be a bit better but I actually like the sound in this one, especially the first and last vocal part. I like the vocals to blend well with the instruments, rather than stand out on their own. Especially for this song because it's so much about the vibe and not so much about the words. Maybe the second vocal part is not the same level as the first and last, I was doing many takes late at night smile But yea, I would have to consider it if I wanna release as is or rerecord some of it...

YEA. Nasty to the MAX. Thanks for noticing the intro/drop part, I also think it's one of the better ones I did.
