Red Box Car

Alright so not technically a new song - I wrote this sitting in Juliet, GA outside of a winery there in 2005 or so, and I played it live 1 and only time that night.  I always wanted to go back and record it but I never could get the feel right, life happened, I moved, and I had an old friend ask me about this song a few weeks ago and I had completely forgotten about it.

I scratched out the tracks on the M8, recorded the guitar and vocals into the M8 through an RME babyface, and a couple days later I had a solid start on a mix.

Percussion part is unorthodox, but I tried replacing it and nothing worked as well.

In the DAW I just rode the faders a bit, panned and put a decent rough master on it, but I'm digging the glue I was able to get on it considering all of the stuff bumping around in the low mids.  Hope you enjoy.

Lyrics
I was on a freight train
Looking out the door
of a Red Box Car
Lonely man beside me
asks me for the time
after all this time

Why does it feel like I'm so far away
What makes tomorrow turn into todays
Who makes the world seem to stand on it's end, my friend...
My friend

Lookin' out the window
Staring through the glass
at my neighbor's yard
Hear the engine running
cutting down the grass
We've come so far

Why does it feel like I'm so far away
What makes tomorrows turn into todays
Who makes the world seem to stand on it's end, my friend...
My friend

Wow man, this is so pretty!!! I'm really floored you used the M8 anywhere in here.
Such a nice jam here. Chilled out while still being upbeat and hopeful. Really lovely!

Great tune, and way to showcase the versatility of the m8

Your vocals are always so good, and the mix sounds amazing. I am not even smart enough to provide meaningful feedback other than this sounds like one of those deep cuts that's been hiding on a hit album that nobody seems to have found, and suddenly there it is, finally revealed, a lightning strike still sparkling in its mason jar.

goodness gracious!

great performance on display
