As a mind matches for patterns, axes of symmetry assert themselves with ease proportionate to the intelligibility of stimuli. Most recognized works of art, by virtue of their human origin, include obvious patterns and familiar intervals to cleave a path in its intended direction.\\\\\\
///Keeping a work intentful is easier for some minds than others. When symmetry is left to chance, well-worn grooves can find their expression, echoing chthonic messages that may run contrary to the intent of organized society. Access to technological iterants in all media places the responsibility on the artist to facilitate worthwhile expression, though circumstances may often preclude the opportunity. Thankfully, now that this problem has become widely recognized, it takes considerable effort to unshackle assistive iterants from popular patterns.

I feel like you're either describing your own process, or mine.
